It's SO brazilian that it's almost impossible to translate it. This song tells about a railroad that used to link Minas to Bahia (two brazilian states) to the sea and which has been ordered to be destructed. The lyrics reflects a somber, tragic period of our country. Sometimes, contemporary jazz flattens everything. I'm very shamed that Chico Pinheiro also doesn't pointed it. Who the hell cares what nationality she is? We are still too hung up on race and where a person comes from. People are people. Talent is talent and this young lady has the talent. I had never heard of this young lady until the World News Friday night! I am not a huge fan of Justin Bieber but like a few songs. If she beat him out so what. As a Brazilian I can say we cannot critize people of other nationalities for not knowing about our culture, history or geography. Ask a brazilian anything about Russia, Hungary or Astria. @Rao665 No, it makes sense the way it was written. Most people in general, not just Americans, make the mistake of thinking the common language of Brazil is Spanish. It is in fact Portuguese, although there are many Brazilians who can speak Spanish as well.
