Commanche Run was far better than his final race suggests. I believe he'd have been even better over a mile and a half. This was a very good field and he destroyed them.

Led from gun to tape, the previous year's St Leger winner. This race really has been made of stars over the years. Take the 2016 renewal. Almanzor went on to land the Ascot version, Found went on to win the Arc De Triomphe in between seconds in Ireland and England respectively and Minding who finished third at Leopardstown went on to win the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on the same Champions Day card when Almanzor beat Found, a repeat of Leopardstown.

Shame about the million dollar bonus - he was over the top by the Champion Stakes . Without the lure of it I suspect he would have won the Arc .
