In my opinion one of the best Scottish Nationals ever. Brilliant jockeyship by Messrs Perrett & Armytage, two brave horses and a magnificent driving finish. Superb stuff.

Great performance from Run For Free. Top weight and lost many lengths at the start. Thanks for uploading..:-)

i remember this, i was only 12. i bet on Run for Free, 2 pounds. My dad was so happy for me! Especially seeing as he was laughing at me when he got left behind at the start, as another grand national i bet on a horse called Docklands Express (At Aintree) and he was the only horse to fall at the first fence. But the following year he was like 2nd or 3rd under Scudamore

Run for Free losing about 35 lengths at the start and still beating Merry Master by a neck giving 24 lbs! How fit did Martin Pipe and his team get that horse? Awesome performance of his life.

Anything can happen in this equivalent of the Aintree race held every year in April after the English version in Liverpool. I find it hard to describe a horse who had a bad start, made progress and eventually win a big race to hold off another runner. Remarkable.

Got to be the gutsiest Scottish National winner of all time. Good to see Esha Ness at least place in this after the National heart ache...
