Glad to see City grinding out the result today. You don't always have to score 4-5 goals. To win the UCL sometimes gritty & rough performances are also necessary. Every team always expects City to come out & attack so that they can sit back & hit on the counter. But today City turned the tables on Atletico and made them play if they want a result. People can say what they want but this was one of the best performances from City, may be not in terms of play but in terms of character.

Exactly. I'm glad someone else sees it like I do. Also. City should've have had 3 goals this game. The post 2x and Gundogan 1v1 where the ball almost went in. They sat back and soaked up pressure without Ruben Dias and more importantly Kyle Walker for apart of this game. I think the ref blew this game, when Foden was smashed going for that header that was 100% a yellow. Felipe gets a yellow there and that game calms down a little bit. The fact that Felipe flipped out that much when he should've had 3 yellows tonight and 2 of them were on Foden. Someone maybe half his size. If Simeone would've played the way he did on the 2md half this would've been even better of a series. Athleti completely outplayed city and had them shook that 2nd half. I’ve watched almost every City game, and it’s easy to tell when they’re tired. Pep only made two changes to the team that played Liverpool, and it showed in the second half. In the second half, Atletico were getting the ball to City’s final third quite easily; that is something that rarely happens. One other example where City also looked dead on their feet was against Arsenal. They got easily played through and were so bad that they barely created any chances when Arsenal went down to 10 men. I think it was just a case of tiredness in the second half against Atletico. The reason Klopp made 7 changes in the Liverpool lineup is not just due to being up by 2 goals and facing an average team; it was also because he knew that it would be asking a lot of the likes of Van Dijk, Fabinho, and Thiago to start 3 days after facing City in a game where both teams went all out.

I disagree with Stevie on Liverpool's best 3 midfield choices when all are healthy. I personally think that Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Keita should be starting. I understand Henderson is Captain but that shouldn't guarantee him a start, especially since he's been sub-par lately. With Fab you have a defense stopgap, with Thiago you have a mid-field maestro that can weave passes anywhere, and with Keita you have a player that can advance the ball with his dribbling, shoot, and even play defense when necessary. Not to mention Keita is the most in form of all the midfielders currently and is finally fit. (knock on wood)

Actually all 4 of them are average at dribbling/passing/creating chances. They just pass sideways and backwards; I understand they are holding midfielders but still. If Liverpool had Chelsea/man city's midfield, they would be unstoppable. Liverpool midfielders are lucky to be in a team that gets a win regardless of weakness of some midfielders. You could see Henderson doing nothing, not even marking a player.. others aren't good at passing either and always play safe. Whereas Chelsea midfielders were so fearless and they know whom to mark, how to get back the ball, how to bypass the midfield. Tuchel has got a strategy in dominating midfield and you know it. It's a shame tuchel doesn't have world class finishers. It's a shame klopp doesn't have world class midfielders who will dictate the game.

@@lelethumnisi4478 false statement…. Man city have not been that impressive this season. Sure they are leading the EPL which is impressive, they are a good team. But lets be real, aside from City and Liverpool the teams are very poor or not performing to standard. They just got knocked out the FA cup, AND their run in UCL has not been impressive. They’ve only dominated very small teams like Brugge and sporting. They also played well first game vs Leipzig but the 2-0 loss to PSG and then only beat them 2 - 1 second game, loss to Leipzig in second game and now BARELY getting by Atletico who are having a very poor season for their standard.
