Last weekend I legit had to hear a Notre Dame fan drunkenly tell me SC had a garbage offense last year. It's insane people. Lincoln’s resume speaks for itself. 3 time conference champion 3 playoff appearances .804 winning percentage fourth highest in all of D1 3 heisman winners/first overall picks. One season under 10 wins being last year. Not 6 coaches with a better resume

It's kind of funny how Louisville beat ND pretty badly and then USC plays Louisville in a bowl game without 25 of USC starters playing yet USC beats Louisville by 14, but USC with their starters lost to ND by 28. College football is funny. Anyways, what I'm saying is that ND is way over-hyped, not that they suck, but that they shouldn't be ranked preseason top 5 or 10, which ESPN put them at 5th, when they should be around 14th.

With all of the momentum that USC currently has with recruiting, there is no way in the world that ESPN wants to endorse Lincoln Riley as a top 10 coach to further effort. Flaming Lanning/oregon for not beating Washington is outrageous due to the fact the only team that beat them was Michigan in the Natty. You better hold sark to the same standard as Lanning bc deboer is undefeated against both. ALSO Oregon was one of the youngest power 5 programs last year for football. Washington had 26 seniors/super seniors on their team. They had way more experience. Lanning also changed the whole culture of Oregon. They don’t play soft football anymore, They actually play defense. They play good on both sides of the ball and it’s only going to get better.

National media in general has acknowledge anything that CLR did on the defensive side of the ball, but if a 3rd asst coach from say Boston College or any minor happening in the SEC,Big12 or whatever its all over the place.

First, I respect all of the coaches mentioned here. But apparently they have very short memories at ESPN. This is very much a "what have you done for me lately" type of list. Norvell in the top 10 is a good illustration. Great season last year (other than the bowl game), and a good season the year before. Before that, three lousy seasons. Sark too. Before last year, I would imagine Sark's teams had to be viewed as big disappointments by Texas fans. To me, Ryan Day at 10 is absurd. Whittingham at 3 is ludicrous. Leipold over Riley, and frankly Brian Kelly is stupidity. And I love how someone actually voted for the Tulane head coach. He hasn't coached a single game at Tulane yet! And he'd only been a head coach for two years at Troy before that. Whoever voted for him must have left off the name and just put "Tulane head coach" on their ballot, thinking that Willie fritz was still in charge.

I'm hoping that Lincoln Riley can right this ship but as of right now he does not rate in the top 10 of college coaches IMHO. I've been a USC hommie since 1961, longer than most of you have been alive. I've seen um all since Jess Hill. Riley's got a lot of work to do to be in the same conversation with McKay, Robinson and Carroll.

Kyle is a solid coach but he's lost 5 straight bowl games. All of the other 9 coaches listed have won a bowl game more recently and including the man not on that list Lincoln Riley. We don't know if Kyle would have had the same success or be even more successful if he got a blue blood job. I've seen those coaches that do well at group of 5 or less branded names in the power 5 and not live up to when they went to a better job. Tom Herman, Charlie Strong, Scott Frost, and others that I can't think of currently. Oregon fans don't want to admit that Lanning took over a 10 win team that played in the pac 12 championship game and was coached by a guy who can recruit and get top level talent at the offensive line position. I'd take Lance over Lanning. What Lance is doing is something you can only do in Ncaa 14. Even Les Miles couldn't do it lol.

The article lost me when I saw Ryan Day was ranked 10th and was behind the likes of Steve Sarkisian, Lane Kiffin, and Dabo Swinney. Swinney is not even a Top 10 head coach if all you care about is recent success and program trajectory, while Day has adapted to the NIL era, shown he is willing to adjust his identity and staff, and is 56-8 as a head coach. All but two of those losses were to teams who participated in the CFP (3 of whom won it all). Also, as much as I like Deion Sanders, he does not belong near the Top 10 as of this moment.

I agree with some of these rankings. Dabo should not be ranked, Clemson isn’t really relevant anymore. Dan Lanning should be 3rd…everyone’s afraid of Oregon (so are we) and they keep reloading. Dante Moore and Dillon Gabriel are going elevate their offense (even more so than what Bo Nix did). Ryan Day at 10 I’m fine with. If your college rivalry game is dubbed the biggest of all time and you can’t beat your foe, then even with MHJ you don’t deserve to be ranked that high. As for Whittingham, he is worth being ranked 4 just for being able to beat us with Bryson Barnes, who now btw is at Utah State, so we essentially lost to an Utah State QB… And lastly I would have Leipold over Lincoln for sure given that he has actually overachieved at Kansas while we’re still trying to figure it out.
