R.I.P. Stuart Scott. Early 2000s nostalgia. I miss this era of ESPN...

Sportscenter in the late 1990s/early 2000s was AWESOME. I used to stay up late at night and watch re-runs as a kid.

My favorite team right there. I loved watching sport center with Stuart Scott and/or Dan Patrick (note the double first names lol) Anyway, I haven’t watched ESPN since Stuart passed.

Born in 1996. This takes me back to a happy place I haven't felt in awhile. Lots of great memories tuning in before school with my brother who is no longer with us. Or nice summer nights with the window open in CT. Some school nights when I couldn't sleep, I'd listen to the same SC/Baseball tonight episode 2 or 3 times. I sure do miss the early 2000's. At the risk of rosy nostalgia, sports were so lovely then. I was addicted to that era of the NBA and MLB. Wiffle ball baseball in the street, manhunt in everyones yards at night. A lot of things were though I guess. What a wonderful time those days were.

As a 2001 baby born and raised in West Palm Beach FLA 🌴🏖️🏙️🌴 I get a chance to watch some MLB games on ESPN in that era ooh man seeing those 90s players retiring before 2002 I get the chills when I first saw the Expos, Including Baseball Tonight and SportsCenter. Then after 9/11, I'll never forget watching game 4 of the 2001 World Series on FOX I literally got the chills when Derek Jeter became Mr. November. And that was the time I became a Yankees fan.

The year was 1998, I was a 8 year old kid and my dad past away from a heart attack. I used to make a bed in the living room staying up late watching Stuart Scott by myself. Although the times were hard Stuart Scott always made me feel better. 🙏

This was when they had amazing sports video games. 2K NFL football and NBA basketball. EA had Madden and MVP baseball. It was a great time to be a sports fan during this time. Only playable game now today is NBA 2K basketball.

I miss all the NCAA basketball games. The football too of course, but I really had a passion for some of the basketball games back then.

And you could hear highlight music from the old SportsCenter back then in those games as well!

I was 19 at the time, and had just graduated from high school a few months earlier. These sure were the days, when sports was my biggest passion, and when ESPN was still considered to be must see TV unlike now though. 😞

I bought my childhood home from my parents a few years back. The other day I went into my childhood bedroom laid in bed and put this on for a bit… The flashbacks to my childhood falling asleep to THIS Sportscenter came back in waves 🥲
