When the SEC made that their motto, what they actually meant is "It just means we get more bias in the rankings and play-off selections" lmao. This is the first year where that wasn't the case, and it's why people like Nick Saban were so upset on selection Sunday. This is literally the first season where the SEC destroyed their benefit of the doubt that was unfairly given to them, when they lost to teams like Vanderbilt or Florida or Oklahoma's worst team in decades and didn't even score a single touchdown. They don't know what to do with themselves in an arena where the SEC isn't handed a massive advantage, or one at least as big as it used to be. They're scared.

This exactly it. Add to it the fact that Alabama under Saban never lost to the same team three years in a row, let alone four. Only two coaches beat Saban at Bama twice in a row: Hugh Frieze and Les Miles. Now that they've won a couple a championships, imagine Kirby losing four in a row to Florida. The hot seat heats up fast, and neither of those teams have the history of dominance that THE Buckeyes and that team up north have. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Saban is the GOAT but he has abolutely no frame of reference to explain what The Game means. He probably doesn't know the Ten Year War hearkens back to an 1835-36 actual war (well, border dispute) between the two states. That war is the reason Toledo is in Ohio and the top of Wisconsin belongs to Michigan. Buckeyes and Woverines have been at it a lot longer than football has been a sport.
@willowbrook27173 күн бұрын
@@generalfrancoamerica Atta boy general. Love that my enemy knows history. Respect. The young fans who only know that they must hate us (TTUN) are losing out on why. And it has created adolescent disrespect. Personally I think that the disrespect and deplorable actions they employ when Michigan fans come to town is a result of their ignorance of the true history. That part is a blight on the true Ohioan. (And while I'm at it, stop with the crossing out of "M's" on signs and stuff. Its silly and it embarrassing). When I hear buckeye fans scream about how successful they have been against Michigan the last 20 years and how Michigan must have cheated or been lucky to win recently I fear that we have entered a time when only recent opinion counts and is driven by social media. I don't care that the young buck thinks those things, but it shows he has grown to believe he is entitled. And THAT is a travesty for him. But it makes me think Michigan has gained a valuable advantage. So I too fear that the understanding of WHY the rivalry is historically intense is melting away. For example, one wonders if buckeye fan less than 35 yrs. old even knows how important Woody is to the growth of the rivalry. How critical was it that Michigan hired Bo? Is there another rivalry that can match ANY of the intertwined storylines of how we came to put such importance on an intercollegiate event? Growing up during the 10 year war has been a great blessing and if I can't pass along the reasons WHY we must win The Game, especially when we are not having the success we expected but Ohio still is, then I have failed. It may not be life and death but it is a serious narrative that will not be ignored nor forgotten...hopefully. And oh yeah, congratulations on Toledo. A very important port it was. But the U.P. has worked out quite nicely for us. GO BLUE! Beat Ohio!

They call it The Little 8 and Big 2 for a reason. Often times the game that determines whether you go undefeated and play in a championship or go to just another bowl game.

Nick is a winner, and he is more like Ditka and Bobby Knight. Saban is nothing like Ryan Day. And when Nick tries to side with Ryan, and standing in opposition to loyal fans, it puts me in the mind of and older brother who defends his baby sister. Ryan does not need to be protected by Nick and his influence, Ryan simply needs to win big games...SIMPLE....Then the problem is resolved.

Can someone please explain why I, an Ohio State fan, or any UM fan should care what Nick Saban thinks?

Lmao this is the only time where I’ve seen OSU & Michigan fans almost joining forces with each other to defend the importance of THE GAME to an outsider who doesn’t appreciate the importance of it…ps I know Saban coached at OSU but not for a long time so he’s an outsider and an advocate for sec

Michigan versus Ohio State is the national championship! Michigan and Ohio State if they wanted to can be the best teams every year, especially with the new NIL! So even though Michigan not in the playoffs, if Ohio State wins the national championship, Michigan is still the best team
@PositivelySunshine3 күн бұрын
Saban doesn’t get the point of the tournament. It’s not so we get the 4 best teams in the semifinals. It’s about giving more teams an opportunity to compete for a national championship. Otherwise, college basketball would only have the final 4 and move on. It’s about the fans, making more money for the schools, and more players getting a chance to play in big time games

What is ESPNs obsession with OSU fans in recent weeks? The grand standing is becoming a bit odd. Do they realize the sport they cover.....like CFB is crazy insanity and tradition and it's why we all love it. No die hard fan base is well adjusted or reasonable in CFB lol

Simple. Conf winners get auto playoff bid. Then rank best 8 that aren’t conf winners + conf winners. They can even milk a show ranking them for ratings lol
@stanpratt65463 күн бұрын
It's in really bad taste how the whole of ESPN does all they can to belittle everyone but the SEC and does all they can to promote them. Example: The entire week we heard how SMU and Indiana didnt belong in the playoffs but no one at ESPN mentioned Tennessee who had the worst loss of all. Indiana played OSU better than Tennessee. The hypocrisy is extremely annoying.

As an OSU fan for 50 years I seem to be an exception. I'd take a Natty over a UM win every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Since 1948 OSU has more national championships than UM. It's not close. Bo Schembechler never won a Natty. It will be interesting to see if the Bucks can beat the Ducks. Oregon is really good.

There was obviously calls from the officials that changed the outcome of Ohio States 1st game with Oregon but take that away and there were also calls late in the game between Wisconsin and Oregon that absolutely changed the outcome of that game. I’ve watched college ball all my life and sure the refs are going to miss a call here and there. But it should never ever change the outcome. The NCAA is going to have to hold them accountable.
@kmarks972364 күн бұрын
You are right. The refs called what was clearly an interception and incomplete pass. That would have prevented OSU td. Btw, don’t cry about a clear OPI . Smith just needs to learn not to be so obvious when he is pushing off.
@Alexinytown3 күн бұрын
I'm more concerned that players literally were grabbing Smith and DPI wasn't called last week. Thankfully he was able to make those catches despite the interference and it didn't impact the outcome of the Tennessee game. Anyway, Oregon should have drawn an unsportsmanlike penalty when they deliberately put 12 guys in the field to burn clock time. You already know that though.
