Kevin McHale said it best: James doesn't want to do what it takes to win. In the regular season, he can get away with it, but not in the playoffs. Harden doesn't seem like a player who wants to win. Sure, if Harden doesn't understand how it affects his next contract. The only reason he opted into his contract was because nobody wanted to pay him what he wanted in free agency. Maybe he also thinks that if he gets traded, that team will use their Bird Rights to give him a max contract next year. It's not happening and if he throws a tantrum his contract will be even smaller. Personally I wouldn't even offer a full mid-level. He's no use to a contender and he's too much of a ball hog for a rebuilding team. He's worth a bi-annual exception for his regular season value. Maybe.

This is all on Harden.. If they're really was a secret handshake agreement between Morey & Harden regarding a contract then Hardens team wouldn't have leaked that garbage to the media on Christmas Day. Harden crossed Morey first. That was a snake move... Or how about this??? Harden is complaining that the 76ers are restricting him on getting paid right??? Well why did he opt in then??? If he was so confident that he could get a Supermax then he should have tested FA instead of leaving it up to Morey. Oh wait that's right Houston(the team that he tried to leverage Philly with) didn't want him anymore. Oh well! That's his problem. He tried playing two teams against each other and it backfired. Next time have a little bit more faith in the GM that basically helped put you in a position to be a Hall Of Fame talent and now your're going to smear his name in bad faith to the public because your plan backfired??? Best chance Harden had to win a championship before his career ends was run it back with Embiid in Philly. (Not a 76ers fan). The team has talent and Nurse is an excellent coach. Harden probably wants to go to the Clippers to be closer to his favorite nightclubs in LA. No team that isn't insane is going to want to pay him more than the 35 million he is getting for next season. The Rockets were probably the only team with that much money to waste -- and they wasted it on Fred and that psycho Brooks. Russ just signed for 4 million a year with the Clippers -- that's a serious bargain by NBA standards. Clippers probably offered trading stamps and a taco Bell coupon for Harden ... and his soon to be expiring contract.

If Adam Silver had a back bone he’d step in and put Harden in his place. He had a chance to go ANYWHERE…he found out no one was willing to pay him as much as Philly. If you opt back in for the money there should be a time frame on when a trade can be demanded….if at all.

I'd say that Philadelphia need to trade Embiid before he too becomes unhappy, because what Harden is doing will spill the poison down towards the entire locker room. It will create dissent, it will make for a toxic environment and Harden's endgame is to completely sabotage the entire organization. Trade Embiid for whatever value he has (there are lot of teams that will jump on the opportunity unless he pulls a Dame-esque scenario by saying he wants to go to only to the Knicks for example) and start from the scratch. The last vestages of Sam Hinkie's vision will finally be put to rest.

Embiid and Harden are 2 completely different people. I’ve said it before and, I’ll say it again, James Harden has never acted like a player that Championships matter to. That’s worked out fine for him to this point, but not so well for the Teams that needed him to be there when it mattered. After he scored 50 a Game in HOU and they couldn’t Win the Western Conference Finals, I think he’s acted like Winning just isn’t the Most Important thing to him anymore… I believe, Embiid is completely different. Embiid is the type-player you know you can go to War with. The type-guy you want buried in a fox hole with you, because you know he’s giving it all he has every night. Embiid’s hunger, his effort and his desire to Win are evident and, I think it’s ok for him to be at the point of saying “If I’m not going to Win in Philly and it’s a constant soap-opera, I want not part of, then I’m not looking back, life is short and an NBA career is even shorter. I’ll take my chances somewhere else.” James Harden should play for the Globe Trotters and, Joel Embiid should be surrounded by players that share his desire to be Great and settle for nothing less.
