Competition is key. USMNT cannot win for the simple fact that teams like Brazil, Spain and obviously the defending champs France are not going anywhere. Competition is key and although undoubtedly the WNT have dominated their sport, they do not face as stiff of a competition as their men counterpart. However, they should still be paid equally for their efforts and hardwork.

Yea it sounds great in theory, but the problem is that the women's Fifa doesn't make as much money as the Men's event. There is no insidious reason for female athletes getting paid less. It's just an economic problem. Men's Fifa made ~6billion in revenue in 2018 and the first place team got paid 400M. Women's Fifa, in contrast, made ~150M this year in 2019 and the first place team won 30M. I understand that it's the cool and trendy utopian position that you're taking, but there's no way possible to pay them as much as men's unless you want FIFA to go bankrupt. This year has been great for women's soccer, however. As a first time viewer, when I found out the US beat Thailand 13-0, it instantly caught my attention and I was hooked. I watched every single game since then. I'm now a big fan of Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, Rose Lavelle, Christen Press and the rest of them. I myself and many others will now be supporting the women's team next FIFA Women's World Cup 4 years from now. For this reason, FIFA has considered doubling the prize money to 60m. However, Megan Rapinoe's remarks on wanting to quadruple the pay for women's soccer is just juvenile and shows that she doesn't understand the business outside the soccer field. There is no way FIFA would pay the first place soccer team 80% of the entire revenue (120M/150M). That's just ridiculous. It would be a different story if the Women's Fifa were accumulating money in the billions, but sadly that isn't the case. Although the controversy comes off with the intent of being insightful, revolutionary and inspirational, really just turns out to shows the widespread infantile shallowness, and demonstrates a shameful lack of understanding of how things work within our society. Saying that you want ''equal pay'' for women is one thing, but coming up with an actual plan to ensure that more people watch and financially support the game requires thought that doesn't involve simply copying and pasting the ideology of the masses. I, by the way, am not sexist, I'm just speaking facts. For example, Minor League Baseball players don't get paid less than the Major league because of gender-related sexism. Yes, they're both playing the same sport, but the problem is much fewer people buy tickets and support the minor league than the Major league. Similarly, professional US Lacrosse players can't complain that they make less than 100k a year simply because the sport doesn't in that much revenue.
