Boban Marjanovic is very tall, but he is not 7'7", he is 7'3". I hate when someone just casually makes a guy a few inches taller or smaller, depending on the point he is trying to make, just so it fits the argument better. Respect the facts, Jalen ;-)

When Zion was at Duke, he was 280 and IN SHAPE. Zion is just a large dude, his natural build is huge. When the season starts he’ll be in shape, we’ll see then. Tired of the media and lies, we all know Zion is not the second heaviest player in league. You’re telling me Zion weighs more than Embiid Drummond and jokic? Embiid is easily over 300 pounds(if you believe he’s 250, then you must believe kd is 6’9)

They’re all 7 footers their weight is distributed differently. Also Andre the only one 280(google it). It’s not lies it’s just the fact that for his weight he is to heavy for a wing position and he gonna he to short to play the 5 his muscle only gonna work in certain match ups.
@Ash-zx5wu
@Ash-zx5wu 5 жыл бұрын
Embidd is more likely anywhere from 280-290 now; since he came in at 240 for the NBA Draft ( he was a skinny kid then but since has put on a ton of muscle and fat while recovering from his foot injury) but he is also 7'2 so it was more acceptable (even then in a more proportional body it's risky). Drummond is listed at 280 and I believe that because he looks 280-290 ( came in to the NBA at 265) but he also is 7'0 feet tall. Zion is more likely 6'6 (college records show that as of then and he didn't seem to gain any height even when he stood next to Kevin Knox, who looked a whole 2 inches taller than him); with a 6'9 wingspan ( by comparison Draymond Green has a 7'1 wingspan at 6'7 and 1/2 inches tall). Now Kevin Durant is on the same boat as Ben Simmons and Giannis ( though not nearly as explosive) all three are (+/- .5 inches) 7 feet tall. Their weights are likely as given except for Giannis whose likely now 265-275 with all that muscle. 270+ for a man 6'6 whose not a power lifter or NFL lineman should not be acceptable ( even then its not good for long-term health) let alone an NBA player.

Yes, why do you think everyone calls him an athlete freak. Follow his high school records At 15 he was listed as 6'6 220 At 16 he was listed as 6'7 230 At 17 he was listed at 6'7 272(he gained 42 pounds in a year) At duke at 18 yrs he was listed as 6'7 285. This isnt the media genius, an actually that can be looked as at slander which is illegal. Zions dad was a football player at UNC and was listed as 6'5 270. I would t be surprised if zion was 320. It's not just the media, Zions personal doctors and even Coack K said that he was way over weight. Even if doesn't keep his weight in check, his career will be plagued with more injuries

Being in shape and being slimmer aren't synonymous with eachother. Its very possible for him to be 280 and still be in shape. His goal should be being in shape. his weight will only be an issue if he lacks discipline entirely. he'll get his life sorted out, things will calm down, he'll get a nutritionist and you'll see him be around 260-270 without any problems. also, please stop comparing him to barkley, just look at that picture of young barkley... zion would eat him for a snack. they have entirely different frames. so while i think zion will get lower than 280, he might be the first guy who actually can play a full season at 280 and be fine. it's why everyone loves talking about him, we've never seen anything like him before.

Isn’t stamina the much bigger issue? And like Jalen said, effort. If you have enough stamina to get through the game, and put out maximum effort with natural talent, the weight shouldn’t matter. But his job, unlike a lot of other jobs, requires him to be in game shape, whatever that is. And any shoe company signing him to a 9 figure deal will surely care about how he carries his weight as well. :)

There is a difference between being in shape to play basketball (AAU/College) then there is nba shape. But that’s known. What’s not is what Zion should weigh for the seasons grind. It’s something Zion has never experienced so he has figure it out. That’s why rookies have up and down play spurts. They’ll all hit the “rookie wall” but zions might come faster. But it should be better in his second year and beyond because he will have figured out what’s best for him in said rookie season. Only way this topic comes back up is if he doesn’t figure it out. In 2019-20 I just can’t see how science wouldn’t assist him. Weight won’t be the issue. Can he add to his game will.

He just needs to trim 10lbs of fat and add muscle around his knees to strengthen stability and durability of the knees and he will be golden. Since muscle weighs 2x more than fat, even when he is 10lbs leaner, the added muscle around his knees (calfs, quads, hamstrings) will pretty much have him back at the weight he is at right now. Basically, weight isnt an issue if you can reinforce his joints by adding more muscle around them.

Zion has a noticeably poor gait when he walks. He's never had great posture but it got worse since he's left Duke. The weight complicates things because it'll only make things worse. He'll always have to play at a certain weight until his posture is adjusted. He needs a chiropractor, a physiotherapist, an athletic training plan/program and a dietitian; all of which the Pelicans can provide.

Zion is pure muscle. There's literally a picture of him in like February with his shirt off flexing. He's a freaking hybrid. Losing weight will be difficult, unless he does what ufc fighters do, and lose 15 pounds in a week, but he'll be physically weaker. Zion has amazing genetics, like shaq and lebron. If he doesn't keep up with conditioning, like shaq did, he would end up like shaq. Plus, if zion doesn't learn how to control his basketball abilities, like D. Rose, he'll end up like D. Rose. LeBron's upper body is way bigger than his lower body, but lebron spends a million a year, and knows how to control his abilities.

krunkformula I mean at 10% most athletes should have abs. I’ve never seen Zion without a shirt but I feel like (like most men) the majority of his fat is in his stomach and thighs. And it’s not just fat. He has to cut weight so the stress on his joints doesn’t end his career.
@krunkformula
@krunkformula 5 жыл бұрын
@@booker4984 if you are losing weight at 7-10% body fat you are only doing more harm to your body than any good that could come from being lighter. I'm telling you right now he has little body fat. You see the way his jersey fits on his body he isn't carrying much fat at all. He has some to lose, but he is by no means any 'fatter' than your average NBA player. He is just built more like a football player in his frame. He would be a great D lineman.

I've been saying it for a while. Yes, zion is all muscle..but it doesn't matter. It is unlikely he will last an NBA season at that weight. Even if he is in shape, whichever team that drafts him (which ended up being the pelicans) would slim him down if they were smart. Yes he's a freak athlete but he's just too heavy. Everything that has to support all that weight even if it's muscle will break down over an 82 game season. Jumping, cutting, stopping, changing direction with the intensity he moves with is just too much for everything that has to support his muscles. The NBA just commands too much cardio to carry that much weight up and down the floor every night. Nearly if not every player that is even 6 inches taller than him weight much less. NBA players' bodies are typically lean and long and built for running. It's yet to be seen, but I believe if not this year then he will almost definitively enter future years at a much lower weight.
