With Mack Brown he managed to keep a lot of NC high school talent in state. NC couldn’t quite get the talented kids from Florida, Georgia, Texas and California. UNC was good but not great. Bill gives them a chance to keep elite NC talent and get elite talent from other states.

Tar Heels just choose to put their back in education but they can spend money with the best of them if they choose too. Stephen A, UNC isn't exactly Podunk U. It's one of the nation's most respected state universities both athletically and academically. They are no question an upper middle class ACC team, but they are always near the top of the President's Cup for achievement across all sports. They've seen the top 10 in football a handful of times, but never quite experienced sustained success. The facilities and fan support are top shelf. The ACC is a much easier path to the playoffs than the SEC. The UNC brand has 6 national championships in a basketball program that keeps it in the spotlight every year. Sheesh, show a little respect.

As a Wolfpack fan who’s wife went to UNC, I think this is a horrible idea and he shouldn’t go to UNC to coach football. We kinda like that UNC is a basketball school and we beat them in football almost every year nowadays

North Carolina is the 6th best state for recruiting and they're next to Georgia and Virginia. They've got money and play in the acc. They already have been recruiting in the top 25 the last few years so the right coach could do what Clemson was able to do a few years ago.

absolutely horrible decision in UNCS part. 1) he has never dealt with the NIL and transfer portal and his time to figure out is limited (more on that later) 2) he has never spent a day in his life working as a coach in college. im not really sure he has the time to build connections and he has never had to go out and recruit highschool kids. 3) limited time hes 72- how much time do you expect him to be in the coaching game to dix your program. honestly you will be lucky if he last more then 5 years 4) hes not a good coach. his entire career and reputation was because he had a once in a generation player. if you want to argue look at how he did once brady left and why no nfl team wanted a guy with what 6 rings? but hey he likes college aged girls so its probably a good spot for him in his mind

UNC has messed up with the fan base by letting this go too far unless they know they are hiring him. Believe me I’m a Tennessee fan and we have been through it with Gruden. They just really made us think Vols had a chance to get Gruden and then end up trying to bring in Schiano. It will set back the program years. They really better him in or just put all of their money into basketball because they really have their fans thinking there is a chance to get him and if you go from Belichick to a mediocre coach that program will be set back for years to come.

He won’t he’d fail with the modern day way college football is, he can’t install his “patriot” that won him 6 super bowls, players would transfers and leave left in right, NIL and the transfers portal would eat him alive. Bill is a old school coach and the fact of the matter is old coach’s in todays college ball can’t succeed he would have to change is entire coaching philosophy at the age of 73 for a lack luster program, I don’t buy it.
