20-20 is the only format that can help the game to be global, not only America, but also non-cricketing nations
@grayscarab57843 жыл бұрын
True but there are only about 50 non-cricketing nations, it is played in 150 countries but 99.9% are absolutely useless.

T20 is not real cricket, its just slog and giggle. Test Cricket is real cricket but only 12 countries play it. Of those 12, many of them lose by an innings to the top 4 or 5.
@grayscarab57843 жыл бұрын
@@AlonsoRules Not exactly true, many other countries "play" test cricket just not against other countries since you have to be chosen by the ICC to be a test playing nation. They would play test if they were allowed to.

If the USA were to take up football (not American Football) or cricket, it would allow them to play international sport, something that is generally denied to fans from the US. Knowing the joy and despair of international support would be an interesting experience for them.

Absolutely correct ji. This wonderfull game requires tremendous multiple skills, stemina, vission and reason and sharp mental strength. This glorious game replicates complex and unpredictable nature of life. Life goes through multipal facets like the ups and downs in the game of cricket. As it is said,"form is temprary, class is permanent". Life and cricket share lot of similarities in terms of form class.

I honestly truly believe 20-20 in America can catch on. Loads of people actually do not like baseball in America because it is considered slow with little action. 20-20 cricket is really action-packed with batters hitting big shots, fielders diving all over the place. I think they should forget about test and one day cricket and only promote 20-20. It really could catch on.

Dude, did you not hear? America does have a history of cricket. As an Australian, I think it's great that these guys are trying something new. Cricket isn't even an original Australian sport. Get off your high horse. You don't hear them complaining about Australians playing baseball, etc.
@Sammy5832810 жыл бұрын
Don't care about history. Genoa CFC and AC Milan used to be cricket clubs as well but now they put their 100% on football (sorry they call it Soccer). USA have leagues that half of the world don't play(e.g. Baseball, Ice-Hockey, American Football, Lacrosse etc.). Half of the world don't play cricket. So I think Cricket suits them very well. :)
@riggerize12 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I think 20-20 cricket has a chance in America but not the longer versions. 20-20 cricket lasts about the length of a baseball game but is more action-packed in terms of hitting. Pitchers dictate baseball whereas 20-20 batters tend to, but at the same time good bowlers can have a say.

TEST CRICKET ...is the best thing to watch ......sometimes.. its the test of one's nerves,..one's temperament..one's ability...one's patience...one's skill... Yes..yes...it goes on for 5 days...but many a times...the last two days are amazing...U will be biting nails for a whole day.. I agree...that one day and the T20 format...seem more fun..due to the twists and turns that happen every few minutes... Anyways...I love this Game !!!

The television market isn't as big as you think. NBA and NHL all finish June-ish and the NFL late Feb. So you have a three month period of June-Late August to bust out a 2 and a 1/2 month season. So it is a possibility that something like the IPL could be happening in the USA by mid to late 2010-12.
@Arka201112 жыл бұрын
twenty20 is certainly the format cricket should be tried there. the things needed to promote cricket in the US: 1. go to the school levels and train kids from their childhood. 2. take international players like sehwag, gayle, warner to play exhibition matches there. 3. try to form some domestic twenty20 leagues. 4. try to get success of the USA cricket team in international level.

I think Fort Lauderdale stadium has become into a success. If you don't know...I'm from the future...Previous year India played against West Indies in a T20 match. A dude named Evin Lewis from the West Indies scored a century which is hundred runs. Hundred runs by a single player is a rare occurance in T20 cricket.
@daveluckett218812 жыл бұрын
20-20 can work as an introduction. Americans who like a game with more tactical depth - and there are plenty, as American football attests - can graduate to the two-innings game. But you have to get their attention.

I'm probably going against the grain here, but I think Test Cricket, the truest form, is what we need to be bringing here to America. Twenty20 to the youth, yes, but as far as professional clubs, I think America can handle Test Cricket. Yes, it takes four days, but so does every single golf tournament and golf does well here in the States. Twenty20 can be introduced as the "casual" version or school version, but we need to be bringing in professional Test Cricket. I think we will warm up to it.

I think that the best form of cricket to make Americans watch and play is T20 cricket because it is only 3 hours like a baseball and an American football game. If Americans watch ODI cricket or test cricket, it would be too long and people would be really demanded to get a result in one day.
@88BNDT12 жыл бұрын
i agree with you in most ways but i think 50 50 cricket would be the best to introduce and then the 5 day form once cricket has a standing in the US.

Would cricket benefit from allying itself with Aussie Rules football in the U.S.? After all, they both use the same pitches (playing fields). Aussie Rules football was designed to be played on cricket pitches. The fans and developers of Aussie Rules can help pay for the construction and maintenance of the needed facilities. The two sports could grow together.

Truth is in the US, no person born in the US, ever plays cricket. The sport is only limited to immigrants from the subcontinent and a few carribbeans. Even the leading sporting bodies are not governed by the Govt and function as independant organizations. Promoting cricket in US is next to impossible as already NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB are too big and now soccer is coming uo big and fast.

The thing that is REALLY going to promote Cricket in america is the prestige and history related to american cricket. people need to know who Bart King was.. why george washington liked cricket? why philadelphia is so special about cricket..? if people get to know these things i think it wont be a problem for the americans to make a first class test cricekt team.
