If you go to that extreme, we should say Virgil Van Deek or Heung Min Sohn, We don't pronounce French words like 'encore' or 'croissant' in the French way either. However, I do agree with the laziness point - how many times did we hear 'Roberto Firminho' instead of Firmino - even from Jurgen Klopp, so that's not disrespect. He just got it wrong and no one corrected him.

Misleading stat. Memphis has been playing as starting striker for Netherlands for around 8 years or so because they've lacked a true world class #9 for years. To the point they had to convert a short winger into a striker. They're a top nation and play good attacking football as usual. So of course Memphis will rack up the numbers after nearly 100 caps, most of which were starts. Meanwhile guys like RVP, Van Nistelrooy, Bergkamp, Kluivert, Van Hooijdonk, etc all played more or less in the same era so they ate into each other's minutes more. International football was also more defensive back then so there weren't as many high scoring games like today. Which made goals hard to come by. Point being Memphis is severely overrated player. If he played for a weaker national team with less chances he would have 20 goals in 93 matches. Which would be closer to his club level. There's a reason he hasn't been a starter at any big club he's been at. Man Utd? Flopped. Barca? Flopped. And now he's basically flopped at Atletico Madrid as well. Can't even make it into the 11 over players like Morata, Correa, etc. There's a reason for it.

Poland had more shots on target and holland first goal came from a poland mistake. Poland played a lot better than they have in the last world cups and euros. once their confidence grew they were playing better than holland but weren't able to convert that period into a winning goal. Holland was terrible in front of goal but eventually one of those chances were going in. overall good game. If Poland played with confidence from the start it would have been beter game.

Dallinga has been having 2 strong seasons in France, he will likely move to premier league (multiple clubs interested) and the likes of Freiburg and bologna might be interested too. We have zirkzee as you mentioned who will go to ac Milan, and brobbey who’s very talented too. For the future our striker role will be settled, but for now we are still struggling and I don’t think any of those 3 names is ready to have impact.

I don't think we played that bad. I feel these people judge the Dutch side while being unfamiliar with some of the players in it, especially midfield. All these opinions are based on so little to go by. Germany impressed, against Scotland yes, but Scotland was beaten before tbey entered the field, it was like they were on a leash, just like Serbia in the first half.

I agree with the lack of a top striker for the Dutch. It should have been 1 - 3 or even 4 for the Dutch. They played well and created enough chances and half-chances. They just weren't clinical enough in finishing.

Then you will need to bench the Polish goalie as well as defenders then maybe (anyway Solomon help Nederland with both goals. If you have watched the game with out the orange glasses you could notice that there was a lot of havoc in front of the Dutch goals and Poland had more shots on target than Nederland. All the shitty ifs don't make history. Poland also missed Lawadowski and Milik... By the way: this is the weakest Dutch team that I saw in many years, and I hope that Poland's soccer will move from the decline as before they played formidable football which was pleasing to watch - especially Poland playing Nederland.

Poland did create chances but their manager has them setup wrong, 5 in back is too cowardly. This Dutch team isn't anywhere close to their team's of the past, I was really dismayed by them and their lack of finishing touch. They've got no world class strikers on that squad, Depay is a converted wideman. If Poland played in the proper, offensive and creative 4-3-3 and pressed high well, they'd won this match even without Lewandowski-who is no longer the goal machine he used to be anyway. Blown chance by Poles, if they ended up with a draw then they might have had a chance at 4 points and advancement to knockout stage, now they are already out. Netherland up to quarters with this squad at the most. It's like teams are getting old, no bright new attackers coming through, Norway really messed up by not making it.
