Peter Bosz’ PSV battered Sporting, and without their wastefulness in front of goal Ruben Amorim’s incredible versatility would have seen him soundly beaten. And Luuk de Jong is not the most pleasing in the eye, but at teams of this level he is a formidable force as a leader and player. He dominated the Sporting defense when the much touted Gyokeres did absolutely nothing against a defense that even in the Eredivisie does not look great. If you are going to discuss every game, than at least base your comments on the actual game, instead of making them just an opportunity to vent your prejudices.

I think you've got it backwards. The team that wins the PL is almost always the top scorer. Tight defense is more effective in a cup competition where you play fewer games and the meaningful ones are all against top teams and settled by 1 goal.
