Actually it is how you do business, The business is making money. Focusing on super bowls as the goal of this business is looking at it from a child's perspective. Jones has made the Cowboys the most valuable franchise in sports. He's the best at the game he's actually playing. You know, the one that actually matters. He keeps the world talking about the team, gets to use his private property as he sees fit, and the cash rolls in. He's playing his own game, and he's winning.

There's more than one game - he's failing at the one that's more about pride and legacy. Those things do matter to him as he's a) human, and b) a narcissist. For all of the control and power he wields, he can't make the one thing happen on the field. It actually makes his work a little harder in the marketing aspect, because titles bring notoriety and relevance on their own. I don't know how much easier it would be - but to some degree it would move the needle a little more, at least for a time. He'd love to be able to say his team is a champion - because he'd view it as a reflection of himself. But he doesn't want to divide the credit with a coach or a GM. If he only cared about money, he'd find someone who could either help them win more, or help draw attention. He's not gonna change because he doesn't have the self-awareness or humility. He also isn't being affected in his bottom line, as far as he knows, because you're not wrong that he's highly successful at the money-making aspect of the game. He doesn't want a championship, though, for his own ego.

What a joke. McCarthy is the reason this team is 7-10. BUT the fact that he even got to 7 wins with this sub-par roster is a miracle. It is so top-heavy that its only a matter of time before it completely falls apart. Key departures happened the past offseason and the "gm" refused to sign anyone of significance. And he had to do it without the highest paid player for most of the season. There are a lot of problems in Dallas but McCarthy isn't one of them. If I were him, I'd leave to one of the other vacancies. Jacksonville has to look pretty appealing.

It was weird that Jerry said that they were all-in, after making no efforts to improve the roster, but I took it as him saying they were acting as if they'd put all of their chips on the table already and were fully committed to what they already had. I think he wanted to test McCarthy to see what he could do with less talent. And yeah, they probably did overachieve this season, at the end of the day. I suppose it could've been a waste if they'd made big moves for what would be a lost season without their franchise QB. I wonder if this down season set them back, though... 🤔
