The reason Arsenal might be resembling Jose's Chelsea, is more because of how teams line up against them. Most teams are deathly afraid to play a more open game against Arsenal, because they've shown they can utterly crush teams if they try that. So most teams play some form of mid and low blocks, or simply get nearly 10 behind the ball defensively. For some odd reason, some teams still take their chances and play open against other clubs, even against Liverpool and City. But they don't take any chances against Arsenal.

That's right, no one realises it because it's NOT true. 😂Ask ANY club in the league and Europe who they fear most right now and trust me it's not Bridesmaids FC. Your club has only finished second twice and one of those wasn't even a serious league challenge. Suddenly you lot think you are one of the European elite. Haven't even won a CL. Haven't even won a PL in two decades. Look at Liverpool's stats this season. We have lost fewer games (only lost ONCE all season in ALL competitions) , have the joint best defensive record and a much better goal difference. By the way, we have a 100% record in the CL. To answer Nedum's question, when people say Arsenal need a No9, they mean they need someone to bag 25+ goals in all comps. They have historically (in the Premier League era) always had this kind of player - Henry, Van Persie, Adebayor, Giroud, Aubamayang.
@gtr597321 күн бұрын
Giroud was never that prolific for Arsenal. That’s why he was replaced by Lacazette (and subsequently Aubamayang).
@FitzroyGeorge-c4h21 күн бұрын
The only thing I don't agree HL is the 25 goals in all comps. Just about every team that wins the prem has a 20 league goal a season player. Think that must be the level, to be a 20 goal striker a season. May not get 20 every season, but got to be up there.
@namanmit11121 күн бұрын
I don’t think Arsenal need a number 9, but they are short in attacking numbers and that is quite clear. Against Ipswich they had a 17 year old Nwaneri as the only attacking option on the bench. You can’t be serious with that. Summer exits- Vieira, ESR, Nketiah, Reis Nelson- that’s 4 players who were in squad for most games. I thought we needed an upgrade on those players and that’s why we let them go. But signing a washed Sterling (no offense, he’s obviously had a stellar career) wasn’t going to go down well for Arsenal’s title challenge and it literally shows up in our football. All the criticism around not having style boils down to squad inadequacy. These players fought tooth and nail against City two seasons in a row and are physically and mentally fatigued. They needed some fresh blood and that was a big opportunity missed in the summer.
@ikeman978421 күн бұрын
Very good assessment. I don't think we necessarily need a 100m striker just go get an attacking goal scoring forward. I'm thinking guys like Kudus, Cunha etc.

Key part of their analysis: IF Jesus, Trossard and Martinelli can be more efficient for the rest of the season. IF Havertz can continue to be consistently productive. Add to that: IF they can get decent contributions from Merino and Nwanieri. It's possible, but I wouldn't put money on all those things happening or staying completely clear of any further injuries. I think another attacker would be prudent, IF they can get the right player who will be someone who can make a longer term contribution.

Very honest and objective analysis especially in the issue of a number 9... Manchester United purchased Hoijland and Zirkzee but are failures!!! In the last two seasons the birden of scoring has been shared across. Lack of form by Martinelli and Jesus amplified the need for an out our striker. Question is if you rely on the number 9 and he is injured what happens? I would rather the burden for goals is shared by all inclusing defenders on set pieces.
@jacobalexander416721 күн бұрын
Exactly, that's what some of our fans doesn't understand, see the way city (arguably the best team in the world) struggle to score when haaland is out of form, something they didn't face when they players that shared the goals scoring duties, even the greatest teams Messi's Barcelona, Ronaldo's Madrid didn't just depend solely on them, yes they were the highest goals scorers but you still had Neymar, bale, Suarez etc scoring tones of goals
@juneflowers505621 күн бұрын
I think your comment is fair but Hojlund and Zirkzee are the fall guys for a dysfunctional team, it's unfair to call them failures, they could have been fine at Liverpool or Arsenal. United fans cheered when Zirkzee was subbed off, he's a human being and it was awful to see him upset. Don't let rivalries win out over humanity. Hojlund didn't get the same grief, there always seem to be lesser patience for non white players, it sickens me. I don't care if they are Arsenal players or not, no human being should be treated like that, it's unfair. How can players play with confidence when their own fans treat them like that.
@jacobalexander416721 күн бұрын
@@juneflowers5056 I'm not really a fan of the white vs black gimmick, heck xhaka was booed off at Arsenal too and he's white
@juneflowers505621 күн бұрын
@jacobalexander4167 I supported Xhaka booing our fans, they deserved it for abusing him. It's clear the treatment is different, how else do you explain Kane not getting the same level of grief Saka, Rashford, Sancho etc got when they all missed penalties for England, with Saka copping the brunt of it. I just want to watch football without seeing any player abused and treated badly, be they red, blue or green. I don't differentiate based on race, I want Hojlund to succeed (except against us) just as I want Zirkzee to succeed (again, except against us) because they are young lads living their dream in a foreign land and that's a tough environment to succeed and their confidence will be fragile. I think it is wrong to do that to any human being, I just notice that people seem to give more stick to non white players. Btw Xhaka is a foreign player and not sure he would be classed as white (he's Swiss- Albanian, possibly Muslim, not sure). I think the press and fans have a hierarchy, and in that hierachy, I reckon Zirkzee comes below Hojlund, not that I read anyone was racist towards him, just that they lost patience with him a lot quicker, I dont recall Hojlund being treated like that whilst adjusting. Anyway it bothered me seeing him upset, I just wish people could be kinder to each other.
@gtr597321 күн бұрын
Hojland and Zirkee should have been protected and slowly built up as young players the same way Pep did with Foden and Arteta is doing with Nwaneri. They are a classic example of why you don’t just pay huge money for young talent and throw them in the deep end. They get ruined.
@samuelamadi21 күн бұрын
Bukayo Saka's injury came at the right time cos his injury will force Arsenal to make signings that will make an instant impact on the team. When Saka returns, he will be like a new signing and will push Arsenal over the top. Arsenal will tear teams apart with a proper finisher and a winger on the left who can create and finish to ease the pressure on Bukayo Saka. Nwaneri needs more time closer to the attackers cos he can kill teams off with his finish, pace, and skills.

I think they need a striker. If the goal is to win the league, why deny the need for improvement in this dept? Jesus is unreliable fitness wise. And surely they can upgrade on Havertz. It's all good to share the goals around until you can't find the key goals you need. The top teams have a player who is an insurance policy in the goalscoring dept. Go to guy. Who can elevate the team when it's tough. We can all agree Arsenal is a very good team. But what they need to win is what they are missing at the top end of the pitch now.

@philanderphillips2309 Apart from prize money. There's literally no reward for finishing 2nd. No benefit at all. Surely, the goal has to be winning the league. This window won't be open forever. Other teams are coming. You need a title to give validation to this very good team and keep the project going. Why not buy 1 player that moves the needle in attack. Only buying Calafiori and Merino was never going to be the reason arsenal won the league this season.

@yungdkay1008 Honesty, I don't know. But guess what. There are people paid to know. Everybody seems to think it only has to be a 100M, super Isak kind of signing. But I don't believe that is the case. The paucity of attacking options at the club is almost tragic. All the players who clubs (arsenal inclusive) are lusting for now, have moved in the last 3 years. For half the price they'd go for now. And their talent was obvious to all then. My point is, you find what you are looking for (Klopp buying Salah and Mane when no one else seemed interested, Wenger buying Henry off Juves bench). Arsenal have not been looking for attackers. If they were, they'd have options they could have gone for in the summer or even go for now.
