I don’t understand the take about the bid being for the fans. Arsenal and villa had talks prior to the bid, before the Duran deal was ever sealed. Villa was open to it. Arsenals board was split on it due to factors such as age. Arteta Green lighted it. Villa wanted 60M. Arsenal started from 40M. Then Saudi came in for Duran for 77M. That price was too high for villa to pass up because they can easily reinvest that money and make the whole squad better. And that is what ended the Watkins trade. Now how can I as a civilian be able to find out and communicate the information but a top analyst with high exposure to the world gives such lazy takes? I will never understand but that’s why you always need to remember you are listening to someone’s opinion and although they know more than the average populace, they in most cases would not know more than a proper average fan about their own team. They can’t keep up and some don’t bother.

Havertz has 18 goals and 9 assists in his last 35 Premier League matches going back a full year. And 24 goals and 11 assists in his last 51 matches in all competitions for Arsenal. His productivity is much better than he’s given credit for. The real issue is Arsenal do not have another viable Number 9 for Havertz to play off of from midfield. Havertz’s most effective position is playing as a second striker floating in from the midfield when Arsenal dominate possession against low blocks. After a while, the criticism of Havertz from these pundits gets a bit old because they virtually never talk in nuance about him and just non-stop mock and slander him.

It's amazing how people assume getting Watkins will make winning automatic. City didn't win despite having Haaland and Isak didn't get a point in his last game with Newcastle which they lost as well. Yet, it's burned into pundits' brains that of course, someone like Watkins will make Arsenal winners. Everyone also were absolutely sure that PSG would win absolutely everything when they put Neymar, Mbappé and Messi together. Didn't win the CL. Yet, for these people, it's a sure thing. It's automatic. Given this idea, it means that Newcastle should win tonight because they have a proper striker in Isak and Arsenal do not. If Arsenal win, and especially if Isak doesn't get a point or his impact is limited like they did to Haaland, what will the conclusion be then? Probably the same, because these people don't accept that the structure and chemistry of a TEAM is better than relying on the one "striker" to win it for you or at least bail you out. If Arsenal lose, it won't be for lack of a striker. It would be because they choke as a team when it matters most and a striker wouldn't make a difference. Looking forward to this match.

What people like you very conveniently fail to mention in conversations like this is Havertz assisted the first goal to put Arsenal up 1-0 with his smart pass to Odegaard. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player get ridiculed as much for scoring and assisting as I have with Havertz. He’s the 3rd most productive Premier League striker over the past year and has been more productive than Watkins during that period as well.

When i watch this ESPN and looki at these pundits achievements during there playing days and compare it to how they are condemn players these days baffles me. Moreno that talks most played his youthful days in MSL and scored 3 goals for Paraguay in his whole career. Hislop was a goalkeeper for Sunderland i think.
