I started doing these and my hands became much looser, more nimble, with an overall increase in comfort. With that said the first time I played my aim was terribly off because my hands felt so different. I gradually got my aim back over the session and by the middle of the session I was playing much better. It changed so much for me I contemplated sports medicine as my specialty to pursue (I'm a med student).

After casual gaming for over 25 years, out of nowhere I started getting agonizing and increasingly worsening pain in my primary hand. Over time it got bad enough that it was radiating right up my arm and shoulder. Even if I took a complete break from gaming for several weeks, it would quickly start up again when I next played. I've been using these warm-up and the corresponding warm-down exercises and although I'm still keeping my gaming time significantly reduced, I've not experienced any pain since I've been using these exercises even if I play for 2-4 hours straight. While I've got ongoing hand problems generally I'm so glad for these exercises, as gaming is an important hobby for me and I was pretty crushed at the idea of giving it up completely. Thanks so much!

Started doing these exercises to increase CPS and reduce tightness in hands and wrist (which in turn improved my flicking) for valorant. Fantastic videos, I've noticed improvement in the first two days but notice more improvement in a week. Honestly, (as you probably know) you're onto something. I think these exercises (As you definitely know) are not only for esports but for Keyboard warriors, gun slingers, folks that sow and anything that has to do with hands. I also workout 6 days a week. This has massively increased my grip strength and mind body control for my upper body. I feel sore WAY less often. Which allows me to be more consistent on Valorant when I workout and my arms take a toll. My only question is when doing any of these exercises are you focusing on keeping your chest out and or keeping your shoulder blades down? As if you're bracing for some pushing exercise (like a bench press)? In the video the guy presenting the exercises already has really good posture. But that kind of posture has to be reinforced.
@EsportsHealthcare2 жыл бұрын
We always encourage core engagement and upright posture during any movement patterns, even the one shown here which wouldn't normally be a risk for the spine or any part of the trunk.

Is using external heat (eg. heat pads) bad for the hands in the log run?
@EsportsHealthcare2 жыл бұрын
Two instances where heat may be harmful: 1) if it's too hot and you burn yourself, or 2) your pain is caused by inflammation and the increased blood volume is the specific cause of pain; in this situation, heat may further increase blood flow and may also increase the pain. Otherwise, heat generally helps to relax muscles and relieve tension. If this is your experience, using heat would not be harmful (again, unless you burn yourself--so just don't do that).

I'm so glad I found you guys. I've been a PC user since I can remember, dabbling in consoles. I work 8-9 hours at a computer now and play Switch using the pro controller when I can. My right wrist has started to hurt something fierce lately when I play, and I think it's how holding a controller tends to kink my wrist a little. I am also recovering from a galeazzi fracture on my left arm due to a mtb accident. This after I had severely dislocated my wrist in an accident earlier last year--two bad dislocations in one year. Physical therapy had me doing all the same stuff you guys do in your cooldown video kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3qoaWaBgqaneLs. I did phys therapy for about 3 months and haven't gone since (cost) and haven't been doing my stretches but started again because of your videos. This stuff works!

When i do wrist circles on my left hand my wrist make a poping noise. Is that normal?
@EsportsHealthcare2 жыл бұрын
Without having evaluated your wrist, directly, I cannot answer this question specifically. For specific answers about your wrist the and the sensation you're experiencing, I suggest you see your doctor. However, I'll offer you some general information: There are a variety of reasons why you may experience a popping/clicking sound in any joint. If the popping sensation occurs one time and cannot be reproduced immediately (but can pop again in 10-15 minutes or more), it may be a joint capsule release (as in "cracking" your fingers), called tribonucleation. We describe that sensation here: esportshealthcare.com/chiropractic-and-gaming/#joint-cracking-or-popping-sensation-during-an-adjustment-procedure If the popping sensation occurs each time you perform the same movement: 1. If it hurts, I suggest you schedule a visit with your doctor. Painful popping/clicking sounds are usually a sign of some sort of body tissue being irritated by the movement pattern. 2. Generally speaking, if the popping does NOT cause pain, it is less likely to be something harmful. Again, though, you should speak with your doctor for a more specific diagnosis. In this case of non-painful sounds, it may be what we describe as a "tendon snap." Most tendons have a round surface, and my of the bones in the hands/wrists also have round surfaces. When you move, the tendon may slide off/away from a round projection of a bone and snap against the surface of the bone underneath--picture pulling an elastic band off your wrist and letting it snap back onto your skin. 3. Sometimes bony structures, cartilage, and other connective tissue can scrape against each other and make grinding or popping sounds. Similar to my comment above, if there is NO pain, it is less likely that there is a problem causing damage. However, please speak with your doctor for information specific to you and your case. ___ Hope some of this is useful, and I'm sorry I can't be more direct, but without having evaluated your condition directly, it would be inappropriate to make specific or pointed comments about what you are experiencing.

Is it fine to do these stretches every day? And when would be the best time to do them? I do a lot of computer stuff aside from just playing games, so I would save it for before I do something more intense or just right before I get on the computer? Would I do these (and the cool down stretches) multiple times a day if I had sizable breaks between these session or no?
@EsportsHealthcare Жыл бұрын
Warm-up is low impact movement-daily shouldn’t be an issue unless you’re getting overly fatigued. For the other video, the stretches, we generally suggest once per day when you’re done with everything.

@EsportsHealthcare Жыл бұрын
The warm-up movements you can do every day and even between games… for the stretch video, those should be reserved for when you’ve finished a gaming session. With stretching, you can also do it every day, but there is some research that shows it can reduce your performance if done too close to the beginning of physical activity.
@jim5039 Жыл бұрын
@@EsportsHealthcare So I better understand, I should do the warmup not too soon before I start playing? And if I’m playing at different times throughout the day, at what point should I do the cool down stretches?
@EsportsHealthcare Жыл бұрын
@@jim5039 warm up you can do as often as you want as long as you’re not fatiguing - we recommend before gaming and using the exercise patterns anytime during where your hands/wrists feel stiff The stretches you can do after you’re done, and if you do the stretches for 20-30 seconds each with mild intensity, just make sure you have some time between the stretches and gaming (e.g., an hour is more than enough time if you play more than once)

They don't have to stay perfectly straight, but the purpose is to try to isolate each finger. For your middle finger, ring finger, and pinky finger, it tends to be more difficult to keep all the other fingers extended (straight); ultimately, you just want to avoid closing all fingers at once--because then you're basically just making a fist.
