I tried to translate, but may have some mistranlation, and the grammar may be off LOL. Enjoy! Q. What is fashion to Jukjae? A. A forgotten.... friend? Q. What is a fashion item that you can never give up? A.Last year, when I filmed “Begin Again”, I bought these really nice baggy-pants-style trousers at a flea market. People mocked that they look like Aladdin pants but I really like them. Can’t give up on them. Q. How to overcome to urge to eat late-night snack. A. I think the first 3 days are the hardest period. Afterwards, the 4th or the 5th days get easier to push down… if I am super hungry, I would buy coke zero. I heard than even the guys who work out they would do so when they are very hungry, because you wouldn’t gain weight from it. Q. Do you cook when you are on a diet? You look like you can’t cook at all (chuckle) You can’t ask with prejudices!! But in fact, your prejudice is right LOL I’ve tried numerous things. I have tried eating (boiled) chicken breasts, but it was way too tiring, so I think simply barbecue the beef is a good way to eat. And with boiled eggs. Q. what is ben and jerry’s to juljae? Recently I just fell in love with ben and jerry’s. The package of this first-seen ice cream was so beautiful. The color was so pretty so I just grabbed it to the counter totally mesmerized. Then I went home and got the first bite, and IT was a whole new world! At first I was savouring it secretly, but now because I am not on a diet, I am enjoying it. Q. What is the favorite part or lyric from “Individualism” A. When Zion.T first starts, he sings “A, B, C…”, and I like this part. The (musical) atmosphere changes all of a sudden, and the lyrics “A,B,C’ would make people wonder ‘what is the meaning of it?’ Ah… not your part? Yes, I don’t really like to listen to my parts, I really like Zion.T’s. Q. What is the song that you enjoy listening these days? A. I started to listen to John Legend’s new album. The whole album is awesome! But especially ‘never break’, the last track of the album was so good that I almost got teary, and I am listening to that song over and over. Q. Tell us about how you get to write the song ‘Let’s go see the stars’ A. At that time, I really liked to wander around to see stars. I would drive 1 or 2 hours to find a good spot to see stars. And that’s when I wrote this song, so I could write it very naturally, it is the most fast-written song. In about 30 minutes, so easily written that I wondered “can I write a song this easily?” I find “where are you, what are you doing right now?” at the refrain part very cringy. Can I put this in? but it is just a guide…. At last I decided to keep the lyrics, but I remember thinking about whether to change the lyrics or not. Q. what are the little habits or thoughts that have formed because of the fans? A. I am running an audio show called “Yagan Jakeopsil (night workroom)”, I tell a lot of stories about how I work. Now the audiences can even differentiate the sounds of the effector I use. When I first released “individualism”, I thought ‘I have to tell the audiences of night workroom how I made this song.’ Q. How do you take care of your nails? A. The nails of my left hand would be trimmed very short, as they are used to press the guitar board. As the right hand that is used for strumming the guitar, you cannot trim them with the nail clipper, you have to grind them with nail filer. The sound is totally different! After a few days after grinding, the sound changes again, then you have to grind again. Q. How do you get inspiration about composing, and do you feel pressure about writing songs? A. the things happen in our daily life are, everyone is pretty much living the same life, my life is also somewhat pattern-ized, you would sometimes feel trapped, don’t you? But recently Kim Changwan (the guy who sang ‘your meaning’ with IU) said it is paradoxical to think that there is nothing to write about me. If you change your perspective a bit, there will be countless stories to tell. Then I realized my perspective on life has been very narrow. Q. Who is the artist that inspired you the most? A. Kim Changwan. Whenever I listen to his songs, I really want to make musics. When it comes to foreign artists, it is John Legend. The new album was too beautiful. Q. Have you named any of the 25 guitars that you own? A. Ah, no such things. I am not the guy who name his things. I am not those guys who name their cars or their guitars or their (inanimate) things. Q. Mountain or Sea? -A. Mountain Q. Summer or winter? -A. Winter Q. Hatchbag or Sedan (saloon)? -A. Hatchbag Q. Hatchbag or SUV? -A. SUV Q. Jikoba (a Korean chicken brand) or japchae-bab? -A. japchae-bab is my soul food! It is very easy to get, and always delicious. Always feels new, always makes me happy. How long have you fallen in love with it? Hmm… I started rather late, but now I feel like it became my partner. Q. John Mayer or John Legend. -A. these days, it’s John Legend. But I have to put ‘these days’ in front of it. Q. kimchi-Jjigae vs. dwaenjang-Jjigae -A. Kimchi-jjigae Q. Pork cutlet vs Jjajang-myeon? -A. Port cutlet Q. Air fryer vs. microwave? -A. Air fryer. It is 100% air fryer. Way more delicious! Q. Häagen-Dazs vs. Ben and Jerry’s -A. Ben and Jerry’s Q. Deoweesanyang (a coffee-flavored Korean ice cream) vs. Ben and Jerry’s -A. Ben and Jerry’s Ah, the prices are way different! (he is saying the more expensive ones taste better) Q. John Mayer vs. Eric Clapton? -A. John Mayer. I am John Mayer’s generation. Eric Clapton is from older generation Q. Paul Kim vs Henry? Paul Kim. I am really into music nowadays, I learn a lot from Paul Kim’s songs. (What! Paul Kim is older than Jukjae?) Q. Let’s go see the stars vs. alleys? -A. Alleys Q. Individualism vs. alleys -A. Alleys Q. My goal is to go to Jukjae’s 80th birthday party/dinner show, any plans on having it? A. Wow, I would be very happy to play music until then. I am thinking about having one, I would want to. It’s the matter of possibility.
