It's simple mustard or any oil to make his left hand fingers more slippery so that fingers move smoothly through the strings.

Dear sir I own a very big Esraj Total length of instrument is 127 cm with string length mensure 87 cm .It is 4 strings without tarab strings. By your knowledge have you ever heared about such an Esraj bass instrument .Maybe a special commission like a Sursingar for Sarod to play alap?
