I use smoked beef sausage (less fat) and thin sliced onions when the the potatoes , few tablespoons of butter and bake at 350 for 30 minutes, add cheese (cheddar) and back in oven for 10 minutes or till brown. Awesome!!!!!

Try this. In a 4l or larger pot put 2 or 3 slices of bacon on the bottom then sliced potatoes to cover tightly the bottom of the pot then sliced sausage and sliced onion. Fill up the pot to the top with layers of potatoes, sausage and onion, cover it with lid and cook on low until potatoes have cooked, about 1 to 1.5 hrs. This dish is called "prażonki".
