I love Vincent Price as an actor and person. Sign of a good person is to recognize your flaws, and emphatically work to not only change your views, but to work to change the world that tought you those screwed up values. We are not born rascists, we are taught to be rascists. Love you and miss you VP.
@louisejohnson67673 жыл бұрын
I agree. We must be given the chance to grow. That's part of what makes us human, our ability to move through life, growing and learning, always learning. Some people choose to stay in one narrow slot, wearing blinders and they will spiritually stagnate. Mr. Price took the blinders off and chose to grow spiritually. I don't mean anything religious by referring to one's spirit, more akin to one's humanity.

I was fortunate to meet Price in the mid 70s. He had given a really good presentation at the college I was attending. When it was over, I went down to the student center game room to pick up girls. I had just engaged two cuties into a game of team pinball when I friend came to tell me that Vincent was leaving and I might have a chance to meet him directly. So I went running up the stairs without looking where I was going. Suddenly there were a pair of very polished shoes blocking my way. I look up and it's......Vincent Price!!! He looks down at me and says, 'Hello, son'. It sounded just like him, too. I began stammering like Ralph Kramden. He smiled. I belted out my praise for his seminar and his movies. He nods and thanks me again. As he continued down the stairs I continue squawking. He continued to smile and waved. Well, all I can say is that he had a lot of class.

I have a first edition of Vincent Price’s first cookbook. It has some exceptional recipes in it. He and his wife collected recipes from all over the world, asking chefs for their recipes whenever they ate something they really enjoyed. He collected all these recipes into his first cookbook. My husband gave me that cookbook shortly after we met, when he learned of my love for Vincent Price. I especially love the movies Mr. Price made with William Castle, like House on Haunted Hill. It’s just sad that Vincent Price wasn’t able to live openly as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s horrifying to me that people had to suffer over something they had no choice about - being gay. For millennia, "Christians" forced people to suffer, causing emotional and physical harm in the name of their imaginary god. I’m so glad we’re moving past that superstitious nonsense and recognizing that being LGBTQ is no different than being born with different skin color or being left-handed. Vincent Price just had the misfortune of being born a few decades too early.
