Great video! You would like the Lucas Extreme Duty Gun Oil. It does not cook off under extreme heat, nor will it gum up in the cold. Great for pocket knives also. Try to buy quality bits, drivers and punches. A set of roll pin punch come in handy too. The rest of the tools can wait until you actually need them or they go on sale lol. Or borrow a friends gear. Which ever is more wife friendly lol. My mrs has her rpal so nothing gets by her! Saw a nice gun vice in your video. They definitely come in handy for cleaning and maintenance.

Hey Thomas :) Thanks very much for watching (and being subbed!) :D Lucas seems to be very good, so I will definitely check out their oil next time I run out. You are right about everything else too. Good bits and other tools are important, and if you get something that's high quality they will generally last you a long time. But everyone works at a different pace, and sometimes you just need the basics. And yeah haha, kind of funny that I didn't think to include the gun vice because it is SUPER useful in cleaning and maintenance, but I might add that link in the description thanks to you :)

Once again, a great video on how to perform a vital (and often overlooked) task about firearms. Most videos today seem to be focused on new gear or how to use firearms gear but not about their upkeep.

Hehe glad you enjoyed it. Kinda felt like a bit of an infomercial to me but also I bet it would help a few people pick better products and save money from trial and error like how I found out :) I hope to make more practical cleaning and maintenance videos too :) Thanks as always my friend. Appreciate you :)

Thanks for the excellent video. If you don;t mind saying how often do you clean your firearms? Would you base it on number of rounds fired and what about the type of ammo? As example; I find my Ruger 10 22 fouls up more than the other firearms. It maybe that I shoot more with it or maybe the ammo is dirtier? Also what is that circular blade for? Thanks.

Hi :) Thanks for the great questions. I usually just do it by look and feel. I try to be very thorough, and initially I cleaned after every range day. After that I started just looking at my guns after every time I went out with them and gauged from that whether I should clean em. You’re absolutely right when you say some guns foul more than others and I tend to clean my 9mm and 22 much more often than my 308 and 556. That said it’s just something that comes with time to get a feel for, but a good starting point is your owners manual which may suggest frequency based on your particular firearm. The circular saw is to convert non restricted to restricted 👀🤣🤪 Just kidding. It’s just a replacement saw blade for my miter saw. :)
