I don't understand which chord should go next if I try to play with the chords. Say I wanna do II-V-I but I don't know which one should be a maj7, min7, dominant 7, etc

Hello! The harmony we are talking about here for the most part comes from the major scale. So the quality of the chords (maj7,min7, dom7, m7b5 etc) are derived from the major scale degrees (I say for the most part because minor harmony is a bit different aka. when we are resolving to a Im6 chord, so Cm6 for example). For a deeper explanation of the major scale harmony you can check out this link: www.jazzguitarlessons.net/blog/major-scale I hope this helps!

Isn't the 5 chord in C minor Gm7, not G7?

Hey thanks for the awesome video! I’m wondering, why did you choose to use some Drop 3 chords instead of all drop 2 chords. What’s with the mix?

Hi Jason! It's just so that the root is present in all the chords and there is not too much movement between string sets or along the fretboard. So, basically, to stay close to one position and use easy fingerings.

Hello .. I have a question or rather a request for possible help. When I write notes in TAB via MIDI (I have a Godin guitar with a 13-pin input, I connect it to the Roland GR 55 and then connect it to the computer with a midi-usb cable) using a guitar, the program records the sound "c" on the 2nd string, threshold 1. I would like so that he would write the note in a different position on the fingerboard, eg string 4, fret 10. But it does not happen. So it's not good, because the piece is recorded in the wrong position on the fingerboard. Do you know something about it? Maybe there are some solutions .. Using the guitar, I write notes in TAB much faster and more conveniently. I have been looking for a solution for several months. I am asking for a possible answer. I would be very grateful for any hint. Best wishes. MiroslaV

it dosnt have to be Jazz..I can play the 1, 6 2 5 into I A Maj7 F # min B min E7 into A maj7 then change it up or write an ANSWER chord progression by borrowing the G# min as the ii chord of F# melodic min A Maj7 is sort of like inverted C# min ( it'll sound almost the same) C# min G# min B min E7.. Then...( B Maj and C# Maj are borrowed from F# melodic min) B Maj C # Maj to G#min ( simply by barring the B maj than hammer/C# maj) then A maj....B Maj....E Maj A maj7 Then C Aug E Maj F# min G#min/G#7 into C# min or A Maj7 It'll be as if I was playing in E MAJOR can playing into C#min Then D Maj7 E maj7 A Maj7 G# min ...... Or C aug into A Maj7 Then A Maj7 F# min B min E Maj or C# min G# min F# min E 7...into A Maj7 or C Aug/maj7 G Maj F Maj E min/E7 into A Maj7 or Bb Maj...hammer/pull the C Maj to F Maj..E7 into A maj7 it just different cadence or sounds. that resolves into A Maj7
