For any new Mercy players there will be times where it feels like you aren’t doing anything. I would look into how many assists you are getting and aiming to be the person with the most as this usually means you’re getting value with DMG. You got this!
@thegreatveritas Жыл бұрын
As a new player, yes I feel worthless. Always being the first who get killed, never winning any round. But hey, it's more fun than playing any other character. Because my aim is so bad, I never was able to kill anyone. I know that, no matter what I play, I will never kill anyone and my team looses 100% guaranteed.
@sadboat1657 Жыл бұрын
@thegreatveritas 250 hours in on Mercy and my feeling is she is the best character to learn the game with because what the game winds up being is a few steps removed from watching the game, you always want to be looking around at what your team is doing and recognizing who's engaging, who's getting pushed, who's feeding, etc. Also, when you're trying to choose someone to pocket, check the scoreboard, not just damage but elims, high damage and low elims means they're just focusing the tank for big number so they're not top priority lol
@TamWam_ Жыл бұрын
even when losing, i consistently get 20+ assists unless my team literally CANNOT get a kill. and when that happens, i switch to illari or kiri, some dps supports im good at. in fact, i won us a round by going illari and constantly killing their supports and dps. too bad we did end up losing 😔 although, sometimes i find it hard to get a lott of damage boost, especially since after the nerf
@TamWam_ Жыл бұрын
@@thegreatveritas it's alright, i used to do this too but i kept learning on how to dodge enemies, like sombra, genji etc. those type of dps, and even some dive tanks would target a mercy first, so instead of being an easy kill try to learn how to dodge what REALLY helped me with movement was mercy parkour, you learn new tech like propjumping (forgot the actual name, but its where you beam a target, go behind a wall or prop and GA to jump off of the wall/prop), bunnyhopping, and using tech to get sneaky rezes or escapes. ive even had a genji, sojourn and doom all target me at once and i lived on 1hp because i was like that unkillable fly in ur room LMAO

21:50 One thing to note is that using the pistol can make it harder to realize that you actually have flight targets available, since the pistol is the only part of Mercy’s kit that doesn’t allow her to freely look around. I’ve had many many instances in-game where I’ve made myself available as a GA target to my Mercy, spam “group up” and “I need healing” to get her attention, and she just dies and staggers herself because she’s pistoling. (I’ve done it as Mercy plenty too, but it’s very noticeable when you’re the potential savior that Mercy didn’t notice.) I usually advise new/low-skill Mercy players to avoid the pistol because of how much it constrains awareness. It’s very easy to have the perception that you only use the pistol when there’s nothing else you could do while you’re actually letting teammates and/or yourself die because you aren’t paying attention.
@iviorgan_ Жыл бұрын

i didnt really play ov1 but it will never keep up with 5v5 cause u can only use tech at the end which now u need to learn do it before. i have a question, what happends u ga then click space?
@icevee686 Жыл бұрын
@@duongnguyen-s1i a good ow1 mercy player could do practically all the things the current mercy iteration allows (except mid-ga superjump) but have more agility and speed, partially because the cooldown was still short and cancel-able. and as for your question, there isn’t really one answer to it? slingshot used to behave differently and depended on your speed and location relative to the target so it could send you either just forward, upwards (with superjump or if you were below the target), diagonally and even backwards if you used a tech
@icevee686 Жыл бұрын
you could slingshot during the guardian angel too, not just at the end of it and the best part about it was that short-mid range flights didn’t feel clunky and weak as they do now
@sethescope Жыл бұрын
I don't necessarily miss it because the upsides of the changes are worth the downsides by a mile, BUT I will say that I miss how ow1 GA felt. I think ow2 GA feels less free and floaty and slippery because they had to change how it worked to incorporate super jump and backwards GA, so I totally get it, but I do miss how ow1 GA felt. that being said, again, I do like the predictability and consistency of ow2 GA.

Biggest thing about damage boost I try to tell new mercy players is that not using damage boost is essentially the same as playing zenyatta or lucio and not using your primary fire ever. Mercy isn't gonna be pistoling to contribute to damage cuz she needs her staff out to quickly heal. In overwatch all healers contribute offensive pressure constantly, blue beam is how mercy does damage

I nearly have 700 hours on Mercy. My main tip for getting more boosted damage is keeping your right click engaged at all times, and just left clicking when healing is required, then releasingLMB when your target is healed. This way, whenever someone is in range of your beam, you're automatically boosting them and you don't have to remind yourself that you need to be damage boosting. It also significantly reduces the amount of "overhealing", thus putting boosted damage in its place. I've found that one way to really urge yourself into the habit of this is to watch your game replays, which can be done through navigating to your career profile > history > replays. The way I've found this helpful is that it will highlight to you the rate at which you are healing full health allies, so in turn, when you are in games and experiencing scenarios similar to what you've seen in your replays, you'll be reminded to engage your RMB.

I like being support assault types like Ashe and Hanzo but i also want to learn how to mercy or anna and understand how truly stressful a real support class is and be a versatile player who can switch to be a healer or assault type depending on what my teammates want to play as. I am very great at ashe and i tend to be a team carrier but i wont deny the healer in my gameplays are the true team carrier. Healers staying on the job to heal me or res me after a enemy taking me out and then sneaking up on the enemy for a good revenge kill is the best feeling and knowing my healer is a true friend. And as a assault type i go for tanks or healers to kill while ignoring the flankers for the rest of the team to focus on.

I also saw several Mercy‘s using a special type of „jump“, it‘s not the superjump where you use your assigned crouch-button to jump up high but rather a quicker and smaller jump by just flicking the mouse/camera up quickly in the direction you wanna go to reach ledges and stuff. Does anyone know how to pull that off or is it actually just a normal superjump? ❤

Damage boost people who are fighting and you can flick between the two beams if they are at full health but still being attacked which would lead to them being at full health longer than the other that isn’t being beamed or helped by supports in general, Supports are more important than some people think which is sad, By the way you can damage boost/heal Bob (Ashes ultimate),Makes him even more OP huh
