Essential Quality had to earn that win. Midnight Bourbon slowed the pace down and almost ran the perfect race. 49 half and 1:14.5 6F. The jockey on Midnight Bourbon did exactly what he needed to do and still couldn't hold Essential Quality off. What a gutsy win..WOW!!!

THE CHAMP RETURNS!!! Essential Quality with another amazing run to once again show he is the best of his field . Can’t wait to see him in the Breeders Cup if possible but will admit he needs greater fractions/pacing if he wants to catch Knicks Go. However knowing EQ’s class, it can be done .

EQ will probably win the Breeders Cup Classic at Del Mar in November.. He is a *fantastic* horse.

@@mikewarren1401 I can see these two horses EQ and Knicks Go getting their asses kick by a more seriously prepared distance runners.Delmar race track at 10 fur is stamina demands with great speed reservation,therefore I am sticking with Happy Saver to nail them near the wire,with the ever dangerous Hot Rod Charlie to keep close watch on the race flow.

Midnight burbon is a welcome surprise in this 3 year old season. Callumet back to the good times. But Essential Quality is simply the best of this vintage. Super Horse.

Midnight Burbon was always destined to be a strong pace horse like his Daddy,Tiznow.Very strong shoulders and seemly can run the distance competitively.He is fully maturing since Fairground races show his ability just like Hot Rod Charlie pace rateable style.I will wait for Bourbon 4 year old years to show the strength galloping from the gate start.Daja Vu, Tiznow Robust son Midnight Burbon.

@@esmondrose5294 Also makes me happy too see that Midnight Bourbon can be a potential heir to the Tiznow line, his sire line is one of the few Man O' War sire lines still left. Tiznow got pentioned recently without any notable heirs so hoping MB will be a good stallion. 🤞

EQ's best win imo,usually a lead gets to set soft early fractions with no challenge they go on to win,but, EQ ran really well and got a terrific ride.

I look forward to rematch in the Classic Santana fits Bourbon so well , seems like the horse has been waiting for this partnership for a long time. Two great young riders on two special horses , look for the Bourbon to be sharper and braver in the classic . Congrats Luiz job well done.

Essential Quality and Knicks Go are two very good horses. In the BC Classic, I expect Knicks Go to carry the pace and Essential Quality to be right there at the finish to win by half or one length.

That was a big improvement with Midnight Bourbon. It seems he did the running by himself very relaxed until that left handed whip (@ 1:59). It looks like he don’t like that whipped. Bourbon probably thinking, “i am already running nicely, why would you whip me so he ran lazy after that. Again this horse is still improving a lot. I should say The horse to watch at Breeders cup classic!

I love the beautiful Midnight Bourbon. His intelligence and athleticism saved a disaster in the Haskell when he was tripped on his way to winning that race. I'm grateful he is healthy and brave enough to compete. He's my hero. Flavien Prat cut in front with HRC, tripping Bourbon. Bourbon was winning that race. Prat knows better. He did same thing in Preakness. Shame on him.

Still abuzz 90 minutes after an absolutely fantastic day of top-shelf racing Fractions as they ran 'em here seemed better suited to a mile and a half, so I was surprised by the final clocking under 2: 02...which made a lot more sense when I saw that the two in front went at it hammer and tongs over a final quarter in :23.15 (and half in :47.47)

Not the strongest edition of the Travers, but the winner looks like a champion and the runner-up is a very good horse. The rest are meh. We'll see how good EQ is when he takes on older horses, but right now I wouldn't want to swap him for anything else in the BC Classic.

He’s definitely the best horse, but with a good run Knicks Go can steal the race. Don’t think it’s too likely with how great of a pairing EQ and Luis Saez make though.

Tiger dont even worry yourself too much about this classic year,the race as one true speed horse and the distance his equalizer.The real race from the top of the lane, gives Happy Saver,Hot Rod Charlie the slight edges over EQ,Maxfield, Royal ship.EQ must run faster early,because he is bred more to stay further than most Notice how hard Luiz riding him in the lane.

@@kennethmalone8104 No its not🤣 Do you know how many horses with champion parents do nothing on the racetrack? Look at pharoahs full siblings, none of them won anything. Just recently champion Zenyattas 4yo daughter by Medaglia D'oro was retired to become a broodmare without running a single race. Pharoah has only produced a handful of G1 winners even though he's been visiting top class G1 mares since he went to stud. I'd rather send my horse to a proven, consistent G1 producer.

Essentially Quality is EASILY the best horse of this years 3 year old crop and Easily the top current horse in the world at a classic distance dirt. There should be no problem winning the breeders classic !!!!! Winning easillllyyyy !!!!??? ... but I’m a betting man and I believe there’s one horse left out there that has a little more heart then this horse and his name is Hot rode Charlie . He is the only horse left that can turn the tables . The Belmont and the derby proved to me this horse has the biggest heart . And I truly believe that if HRC was in the travers today and ran the same exact position as midnight bourbon. Charlie would of holded the lead to the wire . That’s my bet for the classic . There’s no other horse left out there that can go the 1 1/4 with EQ . Charlie the only shot left

Don't forget about Knicks Go. If he runs in the Classic and gets an easy lead without any horse going with him he could beat Essential Quality. Would rather see Knicks Go defend his title in Breeder's Cup Dirt Mile around two turns. No faster horse around two turns than Knicks Go and would rather see Essential Quality beat older horses in Classic. Knicks Go just beat the best older horse Maxfield so he has shown he can do it. Only question is the distance. Too bad Mandaloun hurt otherwise Brad Cox could have had three horses in the Classic. His Bonny South ran a close second to Letruska today so Cox has a number of horses heading to the Breeder's Cup. Hope his top mare Monomoy Girl can get in shape in time but probably won't make it. She Dares the Devil, another Cox runner will be there also. Cox will be hard pressed to win four Breeder's Cup races again but will be cheering for him. He has come a long way as a trainer.

Medina Spirit was better horse Essencial Quiality. Medina Spirit beat Essencial Quiality in the Kentucky Derby and breeder cup clássic. Medina Spirit was the Best 3 years old horses 2021 ran Kentucky Derby. Rest in Peace CHAMPION Medina Spirit.

I honestly support your claims 90% ,because in my 52 years of racing experience and 31 years in the USA.I never seen a more weak field in the Travers. EQ also Midnight Bourbon tower over this field at the classic distance.Bourbon looks every bit like is daddy Tiznow and stronger. Watch out in 2022 older division, not even Hot Rod Charlie can match is finishing speed by then.

Older division? Most will retire after the Breeders Cup. A very weak crop. But the easy class of the weak crop is Life is Good. With him being out most of this year. Will probably run next year. He ran a 44 half against the best horse in training right now, Jackie's Warrior, after 7 months off. He is a real horse. 110 to 112 Beyer is on tap next race. That is 7 to 8 lengths better than EQ.

these were solid 3 year olds. Midnight Bourbon showed that he is going to be a strong older horse. 201 and 4 is a solid time considering how slow they went early.

Both EQ and Midnight Bourbon ran E Speed's of 109. Matching speeds creating a great stretch run. Not slow. I hope Bourbon is able to catch a win soon. A very nice horse.
