Very good lesson! Good acoustic guitar sound, very loud and the sound separation is good. Last thing, there is nothing wrong with your hair style, in-fact, you look better this way. Thank you for the lesson.

Hi Mark, Love the videos. Cant wait to get them all down. To complement the stumming patterns, do you think you will be putting a series of videos together that go through all the transitions you use between chord - the hammer on's, off's, hitting a note going from one chord to another etc plus the pam muting. I love all that stuff and you have it perfect, Regards T

hey mate, can you tell me which chords you are using in the intro where you play this amazing thing :p
@JTB3129 жыл бұрын
At the beginning it's just a basic E based barre chord at the 7th (B, 7/9/9/8/7/7), 9th (C#, 9/11/11/10/9/9) and 5th (A, (5/7/7/6/5/5) fret. After that it's a fancy Eadd9 so 0/2/4/1/0/0 then repeat followed by another Eadd9 at the end but this time 0/11/9/11/0/0. I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure that's it :)

I wish someone would teach how to practice striking ONLY the strings needed for a given chord, especially on the upstroke, whether it's 3 strings only, 4, or 5. Depending on the chord, the downstroke has you omitting certain strings at the beginning or top of the strum, i.e. either string 6, or 5 and 6, or 4, 5, and 6. But all remaining strings are strummed down to the 1st string. If this isn't difficult enough, the upstroke is even harder. In chords that don't use all 6 strings, you must stroke the first 3, 4, or 5 strings (which means strings 1, 2, and/or 3 depending on the chord), then avoid having the pick strike strings 4, 5, and/or 6. This seems very difficult, yet no one talks about it. It's overlooked in all the many lesson videos online, yet it's a required ability to keep from including notes in chords that aren't suppose to be heard. In fact, I have yet to find even ONE lesson video that discusses this. The most I've seen is how to wrap the thumb over the 6th string to mute it, thereby allowing the player to keep stroking all 6 strings without worrying about not touching the 6 string, but this seems like a cop out. It doesn't solve the other problems of 3 and 4 string chords, and a muted note is still a faint sounding note that shouldn't be heard at all. Why doesn't anyone talk about this and how to practice it? It seems to be the most difficult aspect of strumming.

You've probably already worked this out as I see your comment was 6 years ago. For anyone else who may be inquiring, search "guitar strum only certain strings" and a number of lessons, including on by Mark, will come up. Happy strumming!

Trying to figure out why this stuff looses me. Think it may be that I have touched guitar off and on over a few years and always briefly saw guys referring to bars and associating the beats to a bar. With this strumming I don't know where I'm at and it seems that I am not doing 4 beats to a measure.

Hey Mark, awesome lesson. Have you have thought of using patreon.com so we can contribute some funds for your videos?
@judedawson81154 жыл бұрын
Hi, am I the only one who had trouble with the timing of this pattern? I could count the 4 whilst listening to Mark play, but I'd be damned if I could tap it out and play at the same time. It just seemed like a hybrid 3/4, 4/4 rhythm. However, I got it figured out; the second phrase comes in on the up beat of the second bar, so in old fart notation I make it (without the final ghost DU): 1 an a 2 an 3 e an 4 . . . 1 If any were struggling like me I hope that helps. Thanks for the lesson Mark. Great as always.
