Thanks for the tips. Didn’t know the washer nozzles from the FJ Cruiser fits the 1st Gen Tundras. I will be doing this upgrade. I have the 04 DC Limited (bought it new) and have done some upgrades also like replacing the stereo head unit with a 7” display (Kenwood) so now I have wireless Apple Carplay and back up camera by replacing the stock tailgate handle with one with a built in camera and connecting to the head unit. Also installed a power locking mechanism (Pop & Lock) for the tailgate that locks/unlocks with the doors. Did the HID projector headlights (Eagle Eyes) a few years ago and LED interior and gauge cluster lights. Installed a TPMS system that plugs into the cig lighter recently to monitor tire pressures and a front view camera is on the way. It now has 208k miles and although it is now 20 years old, the little upgrades bring it up to modern times. I am also thinking of installing a Blind Spot monitor system. Keep up the good work on these 1st gen Tundra videos.

If you haven't replaced them yet I highly recommend replacing out the screw mounts for the cowl. Mine were leaking into the cab badly. A cheap replacement with OEM parts to stop a very serious and annoying leak! Had to do it on mine and it hasn't leaked since! Good video and some of these upgrades mentioned here I did on my truck and it's made it so much nicer like the LED's and rear windows.

I got the little aluminum linkages for the rear windows too. If you carefully bend the steel arm the linkages attach to you can fine tune the fit when the window is closed. When they are fully latched you want the gasket to be firmly compressed so there's no sound or water leaking in.
@JDMDriveway10 ай бұрын
Huh I never thought about trying that, that's a good tip! Thanks for watching
@benjaminhamilton233810 ай бұрын
@@JDMDriveway Hey, thanks for the video, lot of good ideas. I can't claim to have invented the concept of bending that linkage arm, it was recommended on one of the first Gen Tundra forums or facebook groups, I forget which cause it was years ago. Just take it slow and think about where your tool will go if it slips, it'd be easy to smash the window if you tried to just hulk out on that bar without thinking it through. I don't remember it taking much force at all.

I have the OEM back window arms on my 2002. They do that same thing where it pushes out when you close the lever all the way. If I remember correctly, you have to tighten a screw at precisely the right pivot point to get it to not rock back. And, if you don’t tighten it, it will slip.

Just a note. BMW did testing years ago to see what color is best for gauge lighting, especially at night when you have headlights coming at you and blinding you. The results are you want AMBER lights in your main gauges. The brighter toward white will only hurt your eyes and cause eye damage over time.

I got an improvement you can make and it needs to be done on all the first generous minus the ones with chrome fender well flares. Get a container of black back I believe it's called something of that nature. Anyway it's just like an armor all or something that you spray and rub on all the plastics that fade over time. Top of the front bumper, the back side of your mirrors, bed top rails, rear bumper cover, fender flares.. last several weeks w/ just a couple applications. Makes a hell of a difference in the look of the vehicle!!! Alternatively you can use a blowtorch and just hit them real lightly and it will bring the color back. Temporarily anyway. Trouble with that fix is, You can only perform it a numbered amount of times before those pieces become brittle... ... Definitely step ahead using the liquid..

For the headlights on my old Tundra I use Scratch X with a buffer which has them looking like new. I used to use a kit but Scratch X is faster and cheaper. Meguiar's Ultimate wax on them and they last just as long as the kit result did, and it's nothing to redo them.
@birdvlogs3633 Жыл бұрын
I personally tried to 2 inch lift kit (one inch spacer) and was not satisfied. The upper ball joint will hit the spring of the shock due to the suspension being forced to go lower than it does from the factory. If you get larger upper control arms this will be fixed, but put it on stock suspension and you will ruin your ball joints as well as your shocks! It makes a very load clunk when you go on a speed bump as well.
@JDMDriveway Жыл бұрын
Yeah I've been super conflicted on what to do for my suspension. My shock bushings are completely gone and while I want to do a full upgrade with 5100s and upgraded springs, I really don't do any off-roading to justify the price. A simple 4600 replacement with the same spacers sounds pretty enticing for less than $400 all in. Maybe I'd regret it, but I'm really leaning that way for now

I still have my 2000 TRD 4x4 with less than a 100K. Highly Recommended but Expensive Interior Upgrade-> *Toyota Tundra TRD 2002 SEMA Show Leather Package,* Toyota offered it as part of the Ivan Stewart SE trim package in 2002 and maybe 2003. It adds significant bolstering to the front seat bottoms and backs along with two-tone perforated leather, front and back seats. Toyota stopped offering it through the dealer but I was able to order it from the Company that supplied it to Toyota. 1200$ for the package including installation. It is better quality and cheaper than the 'regular factory leather' that was 2000$ as an option when new. I bought a two pack of marine grade outlets, one power outlet, and one usb on Amazon. Unfortunately I don't, I'm going to be replacing the struts on my truck soon though, so that video should be pretty helpful. Installing the leveling kit is fairly easy though, just be prepared to use a cutoff wheel to trim the studs on the top hat so that they fit within the spacer. I'm sure there's other videos out there to help too. Thanks for watching!

To each their own. But did you know that trucks is actually designed to get better gas mileage with the gate on?
@morganplisken72714 ай бұрын
@@incredifunk I did not know this. I was just joking around, but it seems like less weight is always better. The suspension is designed for that weight. I did notice with the leaf springs the rear end seemed to bounce around a lot more over bumps.

Definitely a good upgrade for sure. I found this video that shows the process. It's really simple though, you pull the hose off of the back side of the nozzle under the hood, then use needle nose pliers to squeeze the sides of the nozzle and push it up and through the hole. Then pop the new one in and reconnect the hose. Thanks for watching! kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2epfGtmqbmarck

They're weathertech floor mats. Overall I'm happy with them and they clean up really nicely, but they do "curl away" from the walls in the footwell which gets a little annoying. I'm gonna try to use some velcro tape to get them to stay better. Thanks for watching!

Hey that's awesome man, congrats on the new truck. I made a video about a year ago on how to polish the paint and remove scratches. Depending on how deep they are, some may not come out all the way. Did you have any problems with the headlight bulbs? I heard you have to put in a resistor of some kind.
@JDMDriveway Жыл бұрын
The CO Light ones that I installed come with an in-line resistor and I haven't had any issues. Other options don't come with the resistor and they can lead to weird problems with your fog lights and high beams which is why you need to add a resistor. Thanks for watching!

I’ve heard of nightmare scenarios, trying to compress the springs in order to get the spacers to fit. Did you not encounter any of that? Thank you.
@JDMDriveway Жыл бұрын
Funny you should ask that, I have a video going up tomorrow of me installing Bilstein 4600 shocks with these same spacers on top. To answer your question though, I haven't run into that issue. These spacers just sit on top of your shocks so you don't need to compress your springs any more than you would stock. Re-installing them on the truck is a bit tougher because you're adding a lift, but if you disconnect your LBJ it frees up a lot of play and you can mount them no problem. Definitely check out the video going up tomorrow to see what I'm talking about though. Thanks for watching!
