Since this was a Canadian commercial, and Canada did not have a television station until CBFT Montreal signed on September 16, 1952, this ad could never have aired in 1949.

This was primarily seen in Canada, as "Imperial Esso" dealers did business there.

The outlined shape of the car shows this is definitely from the 1950s, not 1949.

More like mid '60s. Cars had fins in the late '50s and early '60s, and were shaped like bubbles in the '40s and early '50s.
