To me it seems just like business model. Owners screwed it big time, but hopefully managed FFP rules via selling estates and some other stuff other than players. But these new signings look like owners count on their slow development and potential long term profit. They don't care if we end in the middle of the table. They are just hoarding potential they can cash out in 5 years. And if they somehow manage to do it every year it could work (what worries me more). But what they completely forget is the sport's side of the business and fans supporting Chelsea from the bottom of their heart. What a sad times for our club nowadays... I don't know jack shit about Kellyman, and it probably is just both teams helping each other out (and we'll prob flip him later but let's see).. But tbh, I think our recruitment has been decent since last summer. Palmer and gusto were absolute bangers. Jackson's finishing was frustrating but it picked up in the end and his link up play and pressing helps the team as a whole, also worth noting he was constantly improving. We didn't exactly break the bank for Jackson so I would say it's a good signing overall. Caicedo started slow but iirc he also didn't actually have a pre season, but grew into his role well. Lavia was out injured so can't say much. Gabriel, Moreira and probably also Santos are probably brought with the intention of flipping them (tho we might keep Santos let's see). Petrovic has been pretty good. The only bad signing imo was Sanchez. So overall I think it's worth trusting our recruitment

Chelsea has so many times in the past bought big expensive players we thought had experience and they turned out to be an absolute disappointment example shevchenko, lukaku etc. Who ever knew Cole Palmer will be this good. Chelsea is multitasking. Youngsters being signed this year are for academy and loaning. Mot everyone they are signing are for the 1st team. We need to remember Chelsea has one of the best loan system in PL. They make money that way too. If you buy the best young players, clubs in lower level will come knocking. Football is expensive. Buy the best young players for cheap, loan them, give them experience. In the future, they will either make it to the 1st team or get sold.

Chelsea wanted to maximize Maatsen fee. Dortmund didn’t want to pay it and Villa didn’t either they probably wanted to pay something like 20-25. So an arrangement is made Chelsea get to sell ABOVE what Dortmund could have had him and then has to pick an academy player and over pay for whoever they selected. So instead of taking 20-25 they get over max which helps hugely in the PFR and Villa get back what they overpaid for Maatsen to help their books. It’s simple as that. It’s NOT a standalone deal. They are both legally manipulating the books. It’s smart business.

I have to say that I disagree with the you George because I do understand that you are Chelsea fan probably since you were a baby, perhaps before you were born. But I don’t think Chelsea should overpay for any player at the moment. Victor the Napoli guy it’s valued over 100mil and the salary would be absolutely crazy, the same with Olise the only difference is the release clause, but if we are going to fail I prefer to fail with Youngsters and not fail with overpaid players we already did we we already did with Lukaku, Morata, and many more I think we are heading the right direction and to go to be panicking so much precision with the amount of talents that we already have in the team.
