Dom, that Fenton basket @ 7:33 is called silvercrest ruffled edge, for identification purposes. They should be checked really carefully on the applied handle for possible breakage and never picked up by the handle. If this helps? ❤ Also the vase @ 20:49 is called a swung vase because they cool it by swinging it upside down which is what causes the “fingers!” at the top.

❤❤❤Can’t wait!❤❤❤ I tried your recommendations yesterday at an estate sale. It was very interesting to see people just walk in and not look around nearby, behind doors, on shelves, etc. You make it all look so easy. It’s not. The knowledge you have is amazing to me. I looked at sheet music, okay - very early years but is it worth it? I find it very difficult to do research on my phone with people meandering back and forth nearby. I feel so GUILTY! Not wanting to do the research in front of people makes it next to impossible to know anything about values. I did find some wonderful vintage wrapping paper for $3.00 - an old flip phone for my grandson for $4 and a few other things. A whopping $12.00 but it was a blast. Lots of nice people, clean and well run. The prices were not like yours but it was worth it to spend quality time with my grandson and see how things work. The history in the house made for some thought. Report cards from grade school - onto high school yearbooks - graduating college and onto finishing school for a Masters. Just amazing - Travel books with postcards, lots of living in that house. Truly a lifetime. Just WoW. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Hugs to Daisy and a big hello to Mrs. Prime time. I don’t blame her for not wanting to be on camera. Once she does that it will never be the same!❤❤❤❤
@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter Жыл бұрын
Thanks Holley! Sounds like a great sale! You would definitely need to get over feeling guilty for researching comps. Many of the estate sale dealers do it themselves lol. It’s so common these days for ppl to pull out their phones anyway. Also remember that many estate sale dealers realize that they are selling to dealers who plan to resell. As long as they can get it out of the house and get some money for it they are usually fine. Estate sale treasure hunting is definitely a fun challenge that gets better with experience. Enjoy the next show! Will pass on the hugs and hellos!

Another great Estate Sale tour. (I was amazed at the value behind that Humpty Dumpty oil & vinegar set!) If you'd like to learn more on some of the glass and ceramics items, you might enjoy watching the Old Curiosity Shop videos. He does very thorough walk thrus of thrift, shops, antique shops and the occasional Estate Sale, with a detailed chat about the items afterward. He and some of his reseller friends also do some online live auctions, which are fun. You can really acquire a wealth of knowledge watching him, (Plus he has a fun, quirky personality. ) I'm really enjoying your Estate Sale walk thrus in the old houses, and look forward to more, thanks!

At time mark 22:40, the little flake inside the vase is trim scrap from when it was made in the mold. The liquid ceramic (called slip) is poured into the mold, and there is a "neck" above the vase. The neck will have ceramic in it, too. This gets trimmed before removing it from the mold, that is a bit of scrap that got left there and fired and glazed on.

Good stuff Dom, I would have probably bought most everything you did, and maybe a couple others because (if the price is right) my ASP isn’t as high as yours is, although I’m working toward getting it up higher. Great sourcing helps that, but sometimes you just don’t get the opportunities. Being a fellow metal detectorist and occasional bottle digger, I’m g\lad you clarified the bottle cleaning thing. There are bottle tumblers if you’re into it big time and truthfully some people would prefer you keep the bottle ‘farm fresh’ as they prefer to clean them partially or sometime not at all. I do usually add in the cost of my working on the bottles to clean them if I’m going to. Hope to see another estate sale video soon.

The vase from Italy appears to be ceramic. When it was originally poured into the vase mold, it was called green ware. I used to go with a group of friends and family to a place called the Mud Hen. We went every Wednesday. We would purchase various pieces of green ware items. We then sat at a large table, and with various tools we would first clean all of the seams and extra bits that were still on each green ware piece, thoroughly, being ever so careful not to break the green ware items. We would then paint the pieces with glaze paints and the owner of the shop would fire our items in a kiln during the week. If the seams and bits were not removed completely, they would be glazed over and remain on the piece. The pieces would then be fired into ceramic with the bits and/or seams still on them. That vase did not get properly cleaned prior to glazing and firing, therefore the small chunk bit became part of the glazed vase. A very Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.🦃

@@FossilForwardFindsI help set up estate sales, so I get "dibs" on stuff in trade for labor (sometimes). My advice is to go the first day and the last day of the sale. If you can't get a deal the first day, whether it is just priced too high in general, or more than you want to spend, it will likely be deeply marked down on the last day. The risk is that it will be gone. Having said that, never be afraid to make an offer on the first day. It is part of the game, so to speak. Also, sometimes an estate is just too big to get everything put on the first day, so we are sometimes pulling stuff out every day of the sale. Also, if you're after anything specific, ASK! if the estate sale is being conducted by a company, if that sale doesn’t have what you're looking for, they may point you in the right direction. The lady I help out has a wearhouse where she keeps the overflow stuff or from estates she buys outright.

Loved the Shenango pottery cup. I live in New Castle PA & it's pretty plentiful here. Too bad it's closed down now.

The oriental vase didn't look like soapstone, I think it was carved resin. Soapstone is never uniform in color, especially an item that large. My passion is Oriental art, and I've seen hundreds of those vases. some red (cinnabar color), some gold and some are white or ivory color. Hint: on most Chinese items, if it's glued to a stand, pass. It's rare that a valuable piece would be glued down. It could happen, a previous owner may have thought it was a good idea; it's just a general rule. For example, if you see a green hard stone item labeled jade that is glued to a base, be very wary and make sure before you pay that hefty price. Daisy is adorable overload. ❤️

Thank you. How much do you think the vase is worth?

@@PrimeTimeTreasureHunter My knowledge of what something would sell for is limited to my personal collecting experience, and further, a small rural area of the country. I'm not really qualified to say what you might expect to get for the vase. The subject matter and how detailed and intricate the carving is makes a difference in price. I could not see your vase well enough in the video to make a judgment on that aspect of the piece. Good luck on your you- tube videos. I subscribed to your channel. BTW, that precious little fur baby miss Daisy stole a piece of my heart. I had a little Daisy, She was a 4 pound yorkie and she was the center of my world. My you-tube handle is dazee -n (and) - me. She passed years ago but I miss her still. Looking forward to your next video.

@@dazeenme oh my, I’m so sorry to hear! I love Yorkies…and Morkies…and Daisy’s. Daisy is at the end of my recent estate sale videos so that’s where you can find her if you want to see more. In older vids, she’s in the beginning sometimes. Thanks for subbing and the info on the vase!

Why not just remove the paper tag from the green jug as it appears to be attached with piece of twisted wire?
