Beautiful rendition of the Barry Gibb song live on German TV - 26th August 1967. This was the second day of colour tramsmissions in Germany. "Gala-Abend der Schallplatte" was a live show from the 25th Funkausstellung IFA in Berlin intended to showcase international artistes and the new technology of colour TV. Yes folks - over 40 years ago!!

Einfach wunderschön, Erinnerungen an meine Jugendzeit. 1967, ich war 12 Jahre alt, als ich dieses Lied bei einem Freund, der eine ältere Schwester hatte, die dieses Lied auf Schallplatte hatte, gehört habe. Es hat mich bis heute begleitet und weckt jedes mal, wenn ich es höre, ganz tiefe Gefühle aus meiner Kindheit in mir auf. Was waren das für tolle Jahre und was hatten wir für eine positive Aufbruchstimmung in unserem Land. Und heute?......nee, lassen wird das!

Was gab es für tolle Inspirationen durch Musik, Kunst, Bildung und eine auch im politischen Bereich spürbare Veränderung in unserer Gesellschaft. Leider wurden diese enormen Chancen, die es in dieser Zeit der Veränderungen gab, letztlich nicht genutzt und die Strömungen und dieses " Good Vibration " Gefühl verebbte und wurde in vielen Bereichen unseres Lebens durch ein Negativgefühl ersetzt. Aber eines bleibt: die vielfältigen Erinnerungen an eine tolle Zeitspanne in unserer Jugend.

Esther has such a beautiful clear and distinctive voice. She was huge in Europe, I don't know why she didn't catch on in the US. Esther toured with the Smother Brothers in the US and appeared on their show. She also sang with Cher and Tom Jones on his show. Maybe if she had appeared on American Bandstand or the Ed Sullivan Show it would've helped her popularity.

too many artists in USA of that style was known and televised on national and local channels and broadcast via national and local radios. It was much easier for them to present this music to European crowd and have their commercial success in most of Europe. Having in mind few American artists that actually moved to Europe to find larger commercial success like Slim Whitman
