Esther's story always breaks my heart. Apart from being grateful that God answers the prayers of the Jews and used Esther to convince the king to make the right decision, I always still see the young girl taken from her home during a night raid. Esther was not a 25 year old woman. She was still a child, probably 16 when she was taken from her home in the middle of the night and taken to the palace not knowing what was coming next. It was incredibly courageous of her to even consider the fast and taking action even though she had been living around people who looked down on her people and were openly racist, not knowing that she was a Hebrew. This movie showing her speak about and ask questions about love, being in love and looking forward to marriage further makes me think of her humanity and how heartbreaking the burden of living in that palace was for her. I'm afraid we miss God's lesson and point with this book by romanticizing her beauty treatments and rise to royalty. I doubt she ever had a crush on this king who mistreated her people, and he was probably MUCH older than anyone she was dreaming of marrying. She's always depicted as excited and enamored with being in the palace, but I just don't buy that image of her. She couldn't have been courageous without first being fearful.

He goes by the name in real life,Thaao Phenghlis. How nice two soap actors on a movie which is in our beautiful Bible. I love this movie.
