Estimated Date of Delivery (EDD)
The estimated date of delivery (EDD), also known as expected date of delivery and estimated due date or simply due date
A term describing the estimated delivery date for a pregnant woman on
the basis of LMP(last menstrual period)
If women knows date of her first day of last mentruation than we calculate EDD easily by Naegele's rule
If women forgot or not knows date of her first day of last mentruation than we calculate EDD by Quickening
Naegele's rule criteria
1.it assuming a gestational age of 280 days (40wks)
2 it assuming a Regular or normal 28days menstruation
If changes than we do some modification in last calculated date
If 30 than add 2
If 26 than subtract 2
3.The rule estimates the EDD by adding a year, subtracting three months, and adding seven days to first day of last menstruation period.
accuracy of naegele's rule is 5%
In 50% case the date of delivery calculated EDD +/- 7days
Actual rule =
A)add 1yr to first day of LMP
B) Than substract 3month
C) than add 7days
In IVF cases the LMP is 14day prior to embryo transfer💡💥
