I remember when I was 11 years old a friend of mine at school one day told me about a funny programme that had not long started on TV called Friends. She had mentioned that there was a cute actor in it called Matt Le Blanc. The Friday evening after that I switched on the TV and watched the episode called The One With The Ick Factor. For 10 years after that I was absolutely hooked. I'm 41 now and still watch it and laugh out loud. Friends will always be one of the funniest TV programmes out there.

I'm in Generation X. That's the age group of the principal Friends cast. I think that is part of what made the show resonate with me. Even though I never met Matthew Perry personally, his death felt almost like someone from high school died.

As someone born in 1968 Friends was made for me and my peers. I'm so pleased that new generations get to enjoy it as much as we did. I do not think HIMYM or Always Sunny will have the same effect on people in decades to come: they lack the heart along with the great humour.

Matthew is a so under-rated charming cute handsome velvet face hunk (look at him above) ! Even if his aspect change so much along the seasons due to his issues (so striking from chubby season 6 to skinny season 7, just as an example). I love that man and am so sad this spectacular loving "friendly" adventure was no stronger than his demons... It breaks my heart, i wanted such a good life for such a handsome, good, clever and funny soul... He deserved it.

As sad as it is that Matthew Perry died people need to realize that he was probably never clean. I think he was depressed and never dealt with it properly. I remember his excuse about losing all of his teeth by eating a piece of toast with peanut butter. He used that excuse before he died and I didn’t buy it then and I don’t buy it now. Matthew seemed to have a chip on his shoulder early on. He was always making bitter comments that people think were jokes. This was a man who had mental health problems and never got the treatment he needed.
