Detective Byomkesh Bakshi - thanks Dibakar Banerjee for taking us through the magnificent Calcutta of the 1940s. The film is a necessary detox from the digital madness swirling around us. The so called popular bollywood filmmakers need to learn some class from this movie. One prominent thing that stood out was the immaculate diction delivered by the female actors. Rahul and RD It also depends on the kind of *school* one goes to. I can attest that because I went to the same school as Dibakar (Bal Bharati Public, Rajinder Nagar). In fact, there is mention of this school in Oye Lucky. Even though English medium, our school (at least back in 80s) used to heavily emphasise mastering Hindi language. We would often have the famous DD news anchor, Shammi Narang, coming over and teaching us enunciation. That is why, many like me (& Dibakar) although are ethnic Bengali, yet have greater grasp over Hindi; it is our de facto mother tongue. Additionally, in my case, due to growing with friends who were 99% Punjabi, I ended up knowing Punjab as well.
