I'm new to watching MMA and so not up to speed on the judging criteria, but based on the decision in this match I've concluded that a fighter is able to score points by using their face to deflect blows from their opponent. In any case, the fans certainly got their money's worth from the level of heart and grit displayed by these two fighters.

Chelsea you did an excellent job, and the decision should have gone your way. The both of you are very tough women, and I must say to you especially Chelsea, you fight as good as it gets. You might work on your grappling in the future, to avoid an arm-bar like that, and maybe using your elbows more in the "clinch", but that's about it. You're a world class fighter, and just about anybody that watched this fight would agree. Keep up the good work and thumbs-up from me.

Naa. I get it. The first round was bad for Hacket. Easily a 10-8 without the point deduction. With the deduction, a 10-7. Then she takes 2 rounds - say a 10-9 and a 10-8. That gives her 27 points. 28 tops, against the other girl's 28 or 27. Hacket needed a knockout to win after herbal first round and point deduction.

I... Wow. R1 was Zeman. R2 and R3 all Hackett. Mel did a wonderful job, but she couldn't do anything for 2 whole rounds. The two failed attempts in R1 count for a lot. I think she was more surprised than Hackett. Both great fighters, but that was NOT a draw.

I agree Hackett won rounds two and three but definitely lost round one (almost got submitted 2 or 3 times). The ref correctly deducted a point from Hackett for grabbing the cage to prevent being taken down. A draw was the correct decision. The judges got it right.

@@TonyJBroni Hackett lost the first round 10 -8 i understand that. But according to the first judge she won the 2nd and 3rd rounds 10-8 10-8 for a 28 -26 win. So how did the second and third judge's not have 10-8 for the 2nd and 3rd rounds. The last 2 judges were the only thing unprofessional about this fight. Even so the only fair way a fight should end up a draw is if all 3 judges call it a draw or 1 judges picks fighter A and 1 picks fighter B and the 3rd calls it a draw. In my mind if 1 judge picks fighter A and 2 call it a draw fighter A should be the winner. Because she had at least 1 judge declare her as the winner while fighter B had no judge declare her the winner.

Good lowkick, telegraphed frontkick and a decent midkick. That's good, but hardly legendary. Also opponent has no striking defense nor is she adept with counters, leaving her basically target practice. I'm not saying she isnt good or it doesnt look crisp, but going gung ho Joe Rogan fanboi is a bit premature. Nice clinch work btw

I have to make a comment here. The judges should be fired and never allowed to judge again. Chelsea clearly kicked that girls butt in rounds 2 and 3. Even her opponent new she lost. They need to fix this decision by watching the tape and giving Chelsea her due. This was unreal.

Hackett lost round one to 2 submission attempts, being on the ground for most of it plus the point deduction for multiple cage crabs means a 10-8 round to Zeman, Hackett dominated the following 2 rounds 10-9 and 10-9 so a total of 28-28 Draw. Judges scored properly. If it was a 5 round fight Hackett would have definitely won. Unfortunate but lack of MMA experience tells with the cage grabs, lesson learned.

If you score it 1st round lost by Hackett, and rounds 2 and 3 won by 10-9, and you remember the 1 point deduction, then you can arrive at 28-28. Not saying that it's right, but not inconceivable. Do the math...
