Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

I had a pigeon when I was a kid and he use to follow me every were, and one time he went with my sister to her work on the bus hahaha he flew one top of the bus and follow her, my mom got a phone call, my sister was yelling ''mom peewee is here '' that was crazy, he came back the same way, smart cookie

pigeons are definitely underrated ! i always say this about canaries as well. canaries are probably one my top recommended birds as pets from a cleanliness, personability, and charm standpoint. they're low maintenance and easy to care for as well. i've also always been a bird person lol

I was the pigeon lady at the wild bird rescue 😂 Honestly some of em were really sweet and would hang out around me as teenagers whilst practicing flying during my vet nursing routine (splints, plasters, medication, wound cleaning, disease check). Some of em were feisty ready to kick my behind others just totally did not care about me. Raised like 60 of them per breeding season. Some of them were racing ones lost from the UK which was always fun when tracking down owners 😂

They are wonderful!! I always get so sad when people call them dumb sky rats, because I adore them! If I didn’t have cockatiels and chickens already then I would totally want pigeons. Also, I spent hours constructing a tire swing for my chickens but they don’t like it either. 😅

Pigeons!! Yeeeesssss. I empathise so much with Ethan's enthusiasm. Though I will say, that low grunting clip can be more of a call for attention from mate than just an alarm call, especially with the wing wobbling like that. I usually call it nest calling for that reason, though my pigeon Condor (he was such an ugly baby my family joked I'd gotten a vulture by accident) used to call me to all kinds of places for play and cuddles. Don't be afraid to play wrestle with the cock! They sound different when they're boisterous vs actually frustrated and it can be a fantastic bonding game to play if you get to know how to tell when they're still enthusiastic.

I absolutely love fancy pigeons, they're amazing as pets. Way better than parrots as they're not noisy, don't destroy everyone, affectionate and as Ethan said smart. They were once used by the military to spot enemy jets. But the only downside is they poop alot 😅

My mom made homemade cream of mushroom soup added celery to it then she'd boil the egg noodles and the noodles in a casserole dish and layer the soup tuna and cheese until it is all in the dish and she would bake at 350 for 30 to 1 hour.

Get Kiwi to hatch muscovy ducks!! They don't need a pond like regular ducks and would be perfect to add to your mini farm! My male is like a dog and loves people and demands pats from everyone! They are also super quiet and don't quack.

Danelle…I am with you on the Tuna Salad Casserole!! I add small diced dill pickles, thinly sliced celery and shredded or diced carrots with salt, pepper, dill, Paprika, garlic, and onions (or scallions)!!! Then I top it off with croutons and a bit more cheese on the top and bake until cheese is melted, then a quick lie broil to lightly brown the cheese! So yummy!!

I love them!! When the male was cooing in the ground and she went up to him she is actually wanting to breed with him which is great!! I breed pigeons and show them Ethan should show them too!!! Very great hobby many breeds out there.

My uncle raised pigeons for years , yes they do make great pets. I however went a different route 😂 i have parrots, a sulpher crested cockatoo and a Flame Macaw. I rescued parrots for over 15 years.
