Really nice flying and goes to show that in the right hands the 230s is a really all around good heli for beginners to intermediate flyers. Dude I think you could probably win a 3d competition with a AirHogs Havoc heli LoL!

I am a commercial helicopter pilot with an instrument rating and several hundred hours of manned flight time. I have tons of RC airplane and FPV quad time. I plan on getting a blade 230 helicopter very, very soon. I hope I don't crash this right out of the box...Very impressive flying!

Awesome flying Skills Dude! Im so impresive, the 230s has really improve over the past six years, I remember the first generation and it had some minor issues, but now it has improve to a perfect 3D capable!

I now have two of these in the RTF model. Both drift hard to the left when flying, sometimes to the point of loosing control. I went through cust support with Horizon, sent videos of the behavior and Horizon said to send it in, so there must be an issue. While trying to hover again and do a trim flight it drifted hard right and crashed into the ground, breaking the frame. Thinking the Heli was deffective I went to the hobby store and bought the other 230 s smart they had so I could practice hovering and such while the first one was being assessed and fixed. To my surprise the second one I bought was pulling hard to the left also, just not as bad as the first one. the box and the instructions state the 230s smart should require little to no input from the controller to hover smoothly in low/no wind conditions. If I let off the right stick control both of my 230s smart's will dart to the left. Even pushing and holding the panic button results in both Heli's I have to dart to the left. I have told the customer support person I was talking to about the first Heli I have to send in about having the same issues with the second one, but I have gotten no response from him on the second one. I need some help here. This Heli is advertised and great for beginners, easy to fly, and smart tech that self levels it. None of this is true for either of the ones I have. Now I have 660 bucks in two of these that don't work properly. Please help!

There are a lot of videos on KZbin which tell you that the 230S will hover 'hands off'. The truth is that it won't hover at all. You have to keep it moving. This video shows that.

Do you own Realflight? If so, how accurate is the 230s relative to the model on RF? I have the 230s that came out about 5 years ago. I still haven't flown it (got into warbirds on RF, that took me four and a half years to play with the top pilots).

Hello everyone and Happy New Year ! I just received the Blade 230S Smart BNF equipped with the AR6250MHXA. How to insert the Bind Plug association socket without dismantling everything? In addition, besides the fact that my fingers do not pass and that I do not see the plugs, a plug is already connected to the BIND plug ..... My radio is a Spektrum DX6 G2 EU. All have a happy new year 2022!

Ohhh man! That forward programming is awesome. I am slowly trying to eliminate tail wag. If I can eliminate it in stability mode, without changing anything, would tail wag also disappear in agility mode? Awesome info and great flying.

Since I posted, a have experimented with the forward programming with several battery packs. Hovering is was better, drifts less and lift offs are less scary. Still doesn't have the "GPS" like hover my newest Nano S3 has or my brand new McpXbl2 (first 8" from lift off is a little tough). These little guys are in agility mode when testing. Please do more videos about forward programming in the 230s.

Shows you a better tx, not the crappy one that comes in RTF package & you need a diff battery / charger . Want "Smart" , get regular V2. This one has probs already.

And all the beginners like…I wonder how it flys normally? This is my gripe with all the reviewers. They go right into 3d mode and start flip flopping all over the place. I’m looking at this model as an upgrade from nanos3 to hone in my stick skills. If your going to review a beginner unit. Review it as a beginner FIRST. Then go into the advanced.

I'm a beginner and I have both the nano s3 and the RTF blade 230s smart. Comes with a Spektrum DXS, currently I am researching how to bind this to my new DX6. Not sure what you want to know, but in normal flight it flies great out of the box. Stable, easy to control, plenty of speed when you want it. Obviously it is much bigger and has more weight than the nano s3, so it handles wind better. Flown in 10+ mph winds with no issues. It handles like the 230s v2 on the realflight simulator. I haven't dared to fly it in 3D IRL though.

@@alfredt.7045 thanks. My 230 should be in this week. I look forward to flying it. If the 230 is like the nano then it will be best set up on a dx6/8 etc. idk why but the rtf version of the nano s3 I’ve heard only gives 2 flight modes. With my dx8 I get 3 modes. Basically get the power of 3d but with auto level still on. It wasn’t too bad to get set up. If the 230s is the same then your gonna love that number 2 of 3 flight mode. I’m getting the 230 to have a more stable heli to work on my stick skills normal flying in 3d mode.

@@gtm624 Awesome, I'm sure you'll love the 230! I've tried those 2 and 3 modes on the 230s V2 in the flight simulator, and boy does it move fast. I still have lots to learn and practice for 3d flight. Flips and rolls are easy enough, but actually flying around upside down throws me off. I've actually been having issues getting the nano s3 to work. I got 1 for myself, and another for my brother. I bound mine to my dx6, and had access to those 3 modes... except the heli has an issue of "losing power" even though the batteries are still good. Even from day 1 out of the box, the throttle behavior was kind of weird too. So that's a dud I think. The second nanos3 was bound to the dx6 and didn't have any of those power issues as the 1st one, but after being rebound to my brother's TX it now has weird flight behavior (even though I was sure to follow the steps for a non-computer radio). When it worked, the nano s3 was a fun little heli though.

@@alfredt.7045 I wish I could get sim but I have all apple stuff. I’ve had my nano little over week. Out of box I had 0 issues but I have since replaced the main motor. My fault. I was flying back to back batteries in decent wind. Burnt motor out. That was weird symptoms tho. It would fly about 30 seconds and hit lvc. I thought at first was bad batteries then bad charger but figured out to be motor. Now I’m having issue where it pulls back stick by itself after throttle up. I was in 3d and crashed prob from 8-10’ above ground. Maybe I damaged gyro or the servos. I finished some repairs to my aeroscout and went and flew that yesterday after not flying it for a couple weeks. Will have to see what this problem ends up being. Hope you get yours resolved.
@alfredt.7045
@alfredt.7045 3 жыл бұрын
@@gtm624 thanks, hope you get yours fixed too. Seems like the motors are always the first thing to go on those little helis, I always try to let it cool off after each battery before taking it up again. That premature LVC you mention sounds exactly like what was happening on my s3. I thought it was batteries too until I put it into my brother's s3 with no issues. I will try a new motor like you did if it happens again. I know crashing and repairing are part of the hobby, but a bad flight day sure is disheartening. I went a little harder today in 3D than I should have for my skill and now my 230s is grounded until I can replace a blade grip. Luckily spare parts are easy to find for these newer helis. I've heard that there are some Sims that work on Mac - AeroFly, neXT, and heliX. Haven't tried them myself but those may work for you.

Looks like straight out of the box, it has the the good 'ol Blade 180CFX "Tail Wag" and/or oscillation... Glad I watched this first before purchasing, as I've played this game many times over with Blade, and I've got the scars on my face to prove it! Yeah I just suck as an RC Heli guy, but whatever! LOL... I suppose I'll just continue to fly the real thing, and for RC stuff, just keep fixing and flying my Walkeras' and Aligns'... Great Video though, and you clearly have some Mad Skills! Not hating to be sure, and a BIG Thanx for a real review!!

Dear Ethan, very impressive video. I can only immagine how long it takes to get these skills. May I ask you a question: I'm a beginner and I'm only flying in stability mode. I own a Blade230s Smart RTF and a Spektrum NX8. When using the RTF-radio the heli flies absolutely stable, but when using the NX8 the heli's tail is wagging alot and what's even more dangerous the heli always loses control (or signal to the radio?) after an undefined time, the heli spins around and gets down to the ground. Luckily this happened only at 1,5m of flight height. I don't know how to fix it. I've used the user manual for programming the NX8 and double-checked it. Can you share your user settings? Do you have an answer to my problem? Thank you very much in advance. Best regards, Markus.

What do i need to adjust to lessen tail wag on stunt 1? ( Using my nx8 tx. Where to start looking. Ill go from there). 2nd hover, i went to forward flight. A wee bit nerve racking! LoL! (My last heli was a raptor .50 3d. 20 years ago 😁)

I believe you go into forward programming then into tail settings , you adjust the proportional value go up or down 5 and test , make sure you’re in whichever mode your adjusting , each mode will be set to whatever you leave it at so example stunt 1 85 / stunt 2 100 , you adjust each mode individually

Compared to my other helicopter the 230 S has rotten tail hold. Even after you just did a setting Adjustment it still wobbled. I own this helicopter and it's the worst I've ever owned. Plastic ball socket and cheap cheap cheap… Pay for what you get I guess but it's still overpriced. Back to the tail it's A very poor tail hold the worst out of all my helicopters. If I had to give advice I would say the helicopters from Bang Good are better quality for the same price. And blade helicopters are Chinese anyway just cheap
