Vitalik’s plan appears to me to be a concession that Ethereum is a tangled mess that will be quickly overcome by newer leaner smart contract platforms. Ethereum reminds me of AOL in the early 2000’s. Ethereum is going to be overtaken by newcomers because the money use case is owned by Bitcoin. Looking at Solana, it appears that smart contract users care more about speed and cost than decentralization.
