Hello Akhil, it was an interesting conversational lecture. I appreciate your efforts in taking this initiative. For me, Ethics has been a part of UPSC syllabi that had more to do with case studies because everyone talks about it. It is nice that you that you are taking the theory part and loosening the intimidation. The lecture has been fun and interactive. Hope to see more of this ahead. Situation where a Civil servant has to lie - Lie has two forms - a lie and a white lie. A lie is where a person blatantly says the opposite of truth and it has nothing or very little to do with the liar's conscience. A white lie, however, has an intention of protecting the interests of the other person or the larger interest. So, I believe a civil servant would perform a white lie in the interests of the society. For example, when there is a rumor of perceived threat in an area, the civil servant makes a white lie that they have the situation under control to settle the anxieties of the crowd. A custom in our society - when someone arrives at home, they place their footwear outside the door and when someone comes home, we offer tea/coffee.

Especially Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Galileo, Lawyers profession clashes with morality and native example of Biriyani and Bitter guard Curry( It is a story of every Telugu familys). Etc. We need all the classes and syllabus in this way. ethics are set of standards that society places on itself they help us to decide what is wrong and right so basically the focus on conduct or actions of an individuals. morals also related to right or wrong conduct unlike ethics morals are individual centric morals emerge from belief system of an individual. morals and ethics are usually concurrent with each other as an individual is part of society but sometimes morals and ethics conflict each other. example one defence lawyer for a terrorist where the lawyers professional ethics is to defend his client but is morality is to define the nation. example two the doctor may not euthanise a patient even at the patient's request as per the ethical standards of health professionals however the same doctor may personally believe in patients right to life as per the doctors on morality.
