Thanks for this valuable video Kirubel ! I was confused on the clerkship part because I saw videos that say it shouldn't be confused with internship. Clerkships are done by our choice in other universities as opposed to being done as a curriculum mandatory rotations....so I wanted a clarification. Thanks!

Hello Elsa , i know some people did not put that detail and still have matched. I filled it in because everyone i know from My medical school was doing it. I donot think it would be a problem for you.

hello Dr thank you for the information you shared I was transferred from jijiga university to Gondar university after completing pre clinical year courses .while I was trying to apply for step one it says filling all medical schools attended is a must but jijiga university is not eligible and any candidate transferred from ineligible university to eligible one is not a candidate for application what can I do ? how are they going to know weather I was enrolled to other universities or not ?what options do I have ?please help me.

i think your best option is to get Jijiga university in the world directory of medical schools. the process is easy and fast. if you want to know how to do it , post it on Hakim fb page i am sure the graduates from the new universities will show you how to do it.

Dear Dr kirubel i already filled my from 186 and waiting for my certification but when i want to book for step 1 or step 2 and it is gonna be after 2024 and as all Ethiopian medical school losses their eligibility how am i gonna select my medical school if my medical school doesn't pop out on the screen how can me filling the form 186 helped me anyway

How ECFMG integrates its interface for people from current eligible schools and people got their ID before their school lost its eligible, will be something we will only see when the change take effect in few months.

Hi Eleni , Thank you. I know you can change an exam center on the same testing region but I wont know if it is possible to change the region. if I were you I would directly write to ECFMG, they usually respond in two days, mention your ECFMG ID on the subject of the email.

They say the passport is a must to finish the notarization part of getting the ID. But although you may have to confirm this by yourself some people have got a response from ECFMG that if you pay and get the form 186 you may finish the notarization even after 2024 but the time gab between the two is not confirmed.

Hello , if you select the eligibility period October to December 2023, you can take it in any available date in that period. If you wish to extend your eligibility period they will charge you a money (it used to be 100$) and let you extend to the next eligibility period, which is January to March.
