She is a great influence to me personally...coupled with her cousin Tirunesh dibaba. These Ethiopian athletes have inspired me to understand that I can be whatever I want to be irrespective of race, language barrier and society. No one would believe that Me being a Nigerian, I have been able to understand and speak the Ethiopian official language Amharic through the influence of Derartu tulu, Tirunesh dibaba, Haile gabresiliase, Almaz Ayana, Kenenisa Bekele, and the greatest Olympian Abebe Bikila. Now I can speak and write Amharic (still learning), I love their food, culture and lifestyle. I am now an Habesha (as Ethiopians say) because of my love for these athletes.
