My doctor is Israeli and we had interesting conversations over the past couple of years about the region and issues there. I always say that, I have issues with governments and regimes but not with people, and that goes for Israel, Syria, Iran, etc... For instance, it is my dream to visit Israel one day, to see Jerusalem and Tel Aviv which from what I've seen looks like Beirut. Anyway, I've watched many of your videos and I applaud you for opening the door for dialog, and for trying to lessen the fear of the unknown when it comes to people from different countries, faiths, & ethnic backgrounds.

12:31 The answer is that from late 1800s to 1940s Egypt was basically the Dubai of the Middle East, and there was large-scale immigration of Middle Eastern Jews into Egypt. In fact most Egyptian Jews do not have deep roots in Egypt, and are instead descendants of Syrian, Turkish, Greek and other Mediterranean Jews that came from the late 1800s. A lot of Ashkenazi Jews also moved to Egypt, as did Levantine Christians and Europeans. Aura Herzog , wife of former Israeli president Chaim Herzog , was also from an Ashkenazi Jewish family that immigrated to Egypt.
@OhMaDayzz4 жыл бұрын
@negro bsr I know, it was like the Dubai or Abu Dhabi of the region for a long time. I'm just using it as an analogy because it had a fairly liberal government, the country was quite rich, and was receiving large numbers of immigrants from across the Middle East and Europe attracted to Egypt's tolerant society and economic opportunities. That's why most of the Egyptian Jewish community was comprised of people whose grandparents and great-grandparents came from outside Egypt (usually Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Italy). Half the Melkite Catholics in Syria/Lebanon also relocated to Egypt during this time period.

Actually there is a very big ancient Jewish community in Egypt, the Karaïte Jews, as well as the Andalusian Jews (the Sephardic Jews) who came to Egypt after being kicked out of Spain in 1492. So I don't know about your claim that most Egyptian Jews don't have deep roots in Egypt. Yes there has been many Jews who came from other countries and settled in Egypt (like the star Layla Mourad, whose father was Moroccan and whose mother was Polish).

As a Lebanese citizen I think both the Palestinians and the Jewish people have the right to live in Palestine/Israel. It sucks that Lebanon has been tied to this conflict and some Lebanese and regional factions exploit this conflict. It's true that Israel occupied our lands without any right but our lands were liberated, the same Lebanese factions who were against the Israeli occupation were totally OK with the Syrian occupation. Lebanon is free of Israeli and Syrian occupation now but still suffers from political and financial turmoil, the only way out is neutrality from regional conflicts.

You say you're left-wing but respectfully, you don't sound like one at all. I don't deny there's serious problems within Arab culture e.g. to do with expressing dissent, women, religion.. (and I have criticisms about some aspects of our Jewish cultural traditions too by the way). I just think we have achieved mostly successful peaceful coexistence with local Arabs (most who I interact with day-to-day are good people), despite Jews & Arabs being at war. This wasn't achieved by calling all of them "savage". I don't have a crystal ball and neither do you. It's good practise to be pessimistic and a realist, but it's also worthwhile to consider what potential human beings have for the near future. The world is changing, tech is changing us. Soon those Shi'a kids in Lebanon being used as puppets for ayatollah colonialism, will be free. Bloodshed will drop dramatically. Education systems will need facilitators / pastoral carers, not teachers. Who needs a teacher when you have the web. Many implications for these things. Why you do think Iranians want to topple their fascist regime - they didn't envisage wikipedia, social media, open source knowledge, forums etc in 1979. @farahd941 1 minute ago So sorry! MESGHAN is a Palestinian dish. Made with chicken and tanour bread, olive oil, sumac , onions, etc. unbelievable first you ethnic cleanse the Palestinians from their land and physical homes and now you also steal their cuisine? And by the way Makloba is also a Palestinian dish ask anyone in the Middle East. Where did you come up with it’s from Iraq? Amazing when Israelis say they want to kill all the Arabs or get rid of all the Arabs they forgot about you the Arab Jew from Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, and not to forget Iran etc. it is so sad that Israelites have no culture they stole the beautiful faith of Judaism and equated a faith with Zionism/Fascism. By the way falafel and hummus are all food originating from Arab countries. Do you know our prophet Abraham was born in what now is known as aIraq? Arab Jews in Israel are treated as third class citizens. The terrorist Ben - Givr is Israel Prime Minister, google him you will see he is an Iraqi Jew. Ben encourages the murder of Palestinians and is arming the Israeli settlers or I should say the illegal Israeli settlers to kill Palestinians in the West Bank. Enough that you have butchered and caused a genocide of over 24,000 innocent lives, you murdered them and now you are stealing the Palestinian ethnic food and music and movies, etc. The lady with the blonde hair in the video they interviewed she had a very good heart she spoke about the beauty of the Arab family and culture and how they take care of each other. The rich Arab Culture film, theater, music, a culture full of values and principles. Why are Arab jews afraid to say they are Arabs? I can go on and on, so disgusted! Unbelievable unbelievable unbelievable! Yes, I am aware the video was made four years ago. But for the Palestinians, they have been occupied for the last 75 years and oppressed and treated with no human dignity. So it doesn’t matter whether this video/interview was made yesterday or four years ago. The mentality of the Zionist/fascist has not changed, if anything the monsters head keeps multiplying. In 19 48, over 750,000 Palestinians were ethnically cleansed from their land. Per The United Nations resolution 194, the refugees have the right to return to their homeland and claim their physical stolen homes. But Israel will not allow it , but it will allow Arab Jews and all Jews from around the world to immigrate to Israel and expel Palestinians. please enjoy the Palestinian land and food and music and culture that you stole.

ChVK Vagner, Russian: Частная Военная Компания Вагнера), is a Russian paramilitary organization. Some have described it as a private military company (or a private military contracting agency), whose contractors have reportedly taken part in various conflicts, including operations in the Syrian Civil War on the side of the Syrian government as well as, from 2014 until 2015, in the War in Donbass in Ukraine aiding the separatist forces of the self-declared Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. Others are of the opinion that ChVK Wagner is really a unit of the Russian Ministry of Defence in disguise, which is used by the Russian government in conflicts where deniability is called for. It is believed to be owned by Yevgeny Prigozhin, a businessman with close links to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The mercenaries were being led by an Australian commander believed to have been hired by the USA to conduct the Houthi genocide. In 2016, Ali al-Houthi, former President of the Revolutionary Committee, a body formed by Houthi militants, reported that a Tochka missile hit on a Saudi-led command center in Ma'rib resulting in the death of over 120 mercenaries, including 55 Saudi (9 officers), 11 UAE and 11 foreign commanders of Blackwater on January 17 as well as other material losses. Also in 2016, two hundred Sudanese mercenaries from Blackwater and their commander US Colonel Nicolas Petras were killed in Yemen in an attack by Yemeni forces on January 31 with another missile that impacted a gathering of the Saudi forces at al-Anad military base in Lahij province. Lebanon had issues before Hezbollah, though Hezbollah is now their biggest issue. Ironically the Shi'as were very economically and politically disenfranchised, and relatively apolitical, during the early years of the post mandate state. It was really when Israel started getting into conflict with PLO fighters in the south that they began getting militarily into the fray. With the large Palestinian refugee population beforehand (and lack of will to naturalize them due to a number of factors), there was already an unincorporated sizeable demographic on the bottom rungs of society who were also engaged in cross border fighting, especially after the PLO was expelled from Jordan and relocated to Lebanon. Another thing which historically screwed Lebanon over was the French evacuation. Under the protected French mandate, there was a lot of prosperity under Maronite hegemony, whom the French favored (but the other demographics understandably disliked this arrangement since they were marginalized relatively speaking). But during this entire transitional period, there was a desire for a Maronite majority state which would be severed from the south and only annex some coastal cities including Beirut, with the Sunni majority Tripoli in the north being a "free city" & having the Christians have Lebanese citizenship and the Muslims Syrian citizenship. This whole partition falling apart, and the subsequent institutionalized sectarianism dividing Lebanese society within the unified state which prevailed, continues until this day. Anyways Lebanon is an amazing country and really beautiful. The last few months of protests are a reassuring pushback against systemic corruption in government and a multi sectarian outpour from the youth who reject sectarian culture and unite under the Lebanese flag & identity. Hopefully the future generation could help reap in a unified Lebanon that's functional, non corrupt, works for everyone, and ideally Hezbollah free. I'm 100% Ashkenazi Jewish American so have no personal roots but I studied Arabic and Lebanese history in college (weren't things I majored in but still), and my Arabic tutor post college is Lebanese. Really hope I could visit some day in the future; really intrigued by the people, culture, history, and country.

@Nir Hakimian I said the Lebanese Shi'a were politically and economically disenfranchised in the early years of the modern state's history, which is true. Even Amal, which is the more political wing of the Shi'a population, was not founded until 1974. Lebanon gained independence 1943. Al-Sadr, who founded Amal, began the origins of the movement in 1969 and openly stated it was to empower and give voice to the Shi'as who were the poorest and least represented native Lebanese group. And Hezbollah wasn't founded after Israel invaded Lebanon the first time to fight the PLO in 1982. I concede there were already Shi'a militias beforehand, though, but Sadr initially supported neutrality in the civil war.. not that it lasted too long. So yes politically they did begin a representative party and cohesion before Israel entered the first, but they primarily militarized in the context of the war. Especially as it relates to fighting Israel. Whether or not Hezbollah would've occurred without the conflict with Israel is interesting. Honestly I think a movement like Amal was inevitable, but not necessarily Hezbollah which was the result of a number of geopolitical factors at the time. Agreed that the existence of post revolution Iran and a weak centralized Lebanon had a large role in allowing the breeding grounds for Hezbollah.
@danieledelstein91294 жыл бұрын
@Nir Hakimian Yeah that's definitely true. Hence why I agreed Lebanese weakness is a strong factor in having created that vacuum. In Gulf states with a strong Central command, though, like Kuwait and Bahrain (the latter which is Shi'a majority), Iran can't really get a foothold. They thrive off strongarming and radicalizing Shi'a populations in the Arab world where there is dysfunction, civil war, and/or weak centralization. Yemen and Iraq being prime examples.

One daring Zionist asked me; What does it mean to be “Russian”? There is no specialization associated with this. Russians drive a German car, watch Asian porn, pay with American money, believe in a Jeωish god, quote French discourse mongers, - In short, the heart of the world and the universal synthesis of all cultures. Well, our old Russian tradition was precisely built around the fact that it had nothing of its own, except for the language in which this “nothing” was comprehended and verbalized. The Jeωs were engaged in something similar, but they called their emptiness God and were able to profitably sell it to the dumber nations. And what about us? We tried to sell to humanity the essence of nothingness. From a metaphysical point of view, this is breathtakingly cool, and at first it worked out quite well - therefore, Russians and Jeωs were considered mystical rivals. But if you can put a national stamp on G-d the ay the Jeωs did, how do you put it on the absence of thereof?

My question is to israelis from a jewish arab background . We all know that after jews were kicked out of the historical palestine 2000 years ago ,they had to move to neighbour lands and to the worldwide . In 2000 years the whole (jewish) ethnicity based on the fact that judasim is an ethnorelgious group like( yazidis for example) they may have changed due to Interracial mixing which means that some have become more of the lands they lived in for 2000 years than being jewish ..my question is what makes you deny your ethnicity of being arabs despite the fact that so many still speak arabic and the food they eat is arabic the music they listen to is arabic even their faces look more arab than arabs themselves ..isn't that selfdenying when you say you are israeli and not arab ?
@interestingyoutubechannel14 жыл бұрын
To answer your question, firstly "Israeli and not Arab" - there *are* Arab Israelis, almost a quarter of all the Israeli people are Arab. Secondly, "become more Arab than Jewish" - you're mistaken. In Arab lands, we were still called 'Jews' (Yahood), we were still self-identifying as the nation of Israel (Jews), and we were *additionally* identifying as "Egyptian" / "Libyan" / "Syrian" etc. Please do not get these concepts confused - virtually all the countries outside of Arabia that we call "Arab lands" are (or were) very diverse e.g. Egyptian could be Arab, Jewish, Copt, Nubian... a Libyan could be Amazigh.... a Syrian could be Aramean, Druze.... an Iraqi could be Assyrian, Yazidi, Shabak, Turkmen etc. etc. We are, and always were, Jews. Not Arab. The exilic influences on our culture *includes* some elements that people put in the "Arabic culture" box, but it doesn't make us Arab.
@ragingblazer29414 жыл бұрын
This is incredibly offensive. Us as Jews are descended from Isaac, Arabs are Ishmael. Why are you denying our own identity? Arabs want us dead.
@interestingyoutubechannel14 жыл бұрын
@@ragingblazer2941 Not all Arabs want us dead, many are friends, and many even fight in the Israeli army, don't forget. And I didn't find it offensive, ignorance is ok if corrected after being given the opportunity. And its easy for an outsider to think this way without knowing about us, after hearing the grandparents generation speaking in Arabic.
@manon5624 жыл бұрын
@@interestingyoutubechannel1 I can see and understand that you don't identify as Arabs, but ...nevertheless, you guys do look like them! I am talking about those of you who are originally from those countries. You don't look like Ashkenazim, you really do look like Arabs. Just saying...
@manon5624 жыл бұрын
@Starhopper That's for sure! The mentality is different, definitely. But then, so is the mentality between a Muslim Arab and a Christian one. That's probably why most Christian Lebanese REFUSE to be identified as "Arabs".

@@billieboybuddha4238 Yes, the majority of Israelis are descendants of refugees that fled to Israel from middle eastern Arab countries.
