I have found you through Jinjer and been watching some of your videos when KZbin suggested them. I have found it interesting but accidental that you remind me of a very dear friend. Now I strongly suspect it's much more than accident. I had no idea where Eritrea is, mentally I put it in the west of Africa. Now, learning where you come from it all makes sense! My friend's father was born in Sudan, that's just in the neighborhood, so to speak.

+Habby, haha, I really liked your wise and smart approach to express your ideas. I find your tigrinya so sweet too. It is fine for someone of your age who was raised in diaspora, well done girl. And you know how to choose those background music, nice taste. If I am not mistake, the place you mentioned, "Askala Hankasat" refers to City Park area. Enjoy the shiro with green pepper and don't forget to drop some butter to the shiro dish before it is off the fire lol ...enough internet for today hahha

It's true shabia was one of the many groups who fought the Ethiopian governments and succeeded. But the referendum on independence that was presented for voters of only Eritrean origin was between A. freedom or B. slavery. This shows the election process was not free and fair. Therefore, the 99% result you're presenting can not be considered valid. Since then no election for 25 years. Its always been a one man show . Thats the fact.

Your necklace... What you know about the eye of horus!? Its clear from this and the divided by two cultures video that you're into this stuff. Balance those chakras! Made my day :)
@TheHabby8 жыл бұрын
+TheErijoker I've had the necklace since I was four years old and have never taken it off. It was a gift from a family friend who loved to travel. I've learned a few things about the eye of horus over the years and the most important aspect of it for me is the fact that it's a symbol of protection (warding off evil/bad energy) and a symbol for good health/well-being. It's the all seeing eye, always watching and even though I'm not a very superstitious person, I do find some level of meaning in all of it:)

This is always a cool thing. I'm somali and the similarities in language and culture are striking. Felt really familiar to hear your language. Some examples: Bun = Bun. Shaahi = Shaahi. Anjeera is the greatest thing. Have had it all my life (and we call it Anjeera too, at least in the south. In the north it's called something else I think). Makes sense though, Somali is one of the largest cushitic languages. Not arabic, as the rest of the world outside of the horn of africa may think. Those images you showed are interesting. Google 'Mogadishu before the war' and have a look at the pictures. The southern/central part of Somalia was an italian colony, so the capital has a strong italian/catholic architecture to it. How important is incense in your culture? Any home I go to smells of incense (uunsi), or Frankinsence. The stuff we have in the horn of africa is really ancient and traditional. In fact, wiki tells me the catholic church purchases most of its frankincense stock from Somalia. I think this might be my favourite video of yours. Makes me want to do one of these myself.
@TheHabby8 жыл бұрын
+IngramSnake I had no idea there were those similarities. I knew there were similarities in the culture, because of the lifestyles and such but I had no idea about the language. Mogadishu before the war looks so much like Asmera! That's pretty incredible! As for incense, I'm not sure but that would be a great question to ask my parents. I'm sure some groups use it more than others, I'm just not sure who and how important it is. I really appreciate you taking time to share this, I'm always learning about the whole East African region, there's so much lost history that I want to make videos about. I'll definitely be making more. And I really think you should do one and send me the link:)
