You could set the release of the mobs on a timer that's dependent on the number of mobs currently flowing through the system...like, if a mob hasn't triggered a tripwire in 30 seconds, the doors open. That could also help with "rounds", as the doors will only keep opening if you haven't killed enough mobs t' have them spawning back on top, though it's still probably a good idea to have a set period between each opening where it can't for a bit to give 'em an opportunity to spawn up top.

Hey Etho, I have a idea: when you start in the arena, you'll get equiped with a stone sword and gold armor (this doesn't have to be this set up, do whatever you like) and after each wave, you can buy upgrades with your collected rotten flesh. You can buy swords, potions, armor and enderpearls. After each wave, the mobs get harder and you get upgraded untill you lose. (Sorry for any grammer/vocabulary mistakes)

You know what would make the arena EVEN BETTER? If you made it so that the mobs dropped randomly from the ceiling so that they can surprise you from anywhere. And you can set the difficulty of the arena by controlling the height at which the mobs fall or how long they suffocate in a wall,(Easiest would be 1 hit from death maybee with weakness potions, hardest will be full health maybe with strength potions). Etho, you should make a mob system that separates the mobs and that way you can control which mobs come out. It wood be good to make the control room so you can change modes and do certain types of games. Also, it would be interesting to make it so depending on what difficulty you set for the game, which means more or less mobs, potion effects, etc, a certain kind of sword and armor will be dispensed. And for every certain time or amount of mobs dispensed, a healing potion will be given. There are a lot of cool controls you can do with this and so it would be interesting to see what you can do!

Etho, with the amount of overwhelming mobs that may occur if u were to leave it on to long, u may want to create a kill switch. The way I would do this is put some dispensers in the ceiling with splash pots of instant damage or health. Keep up the good work, luv ur vids :)

Etho, I think you should make a system for killing all the extra mobs from the waves if you do that idea of the wave ending when you get enough mob drops. Maybe there will be a safe point near the thing you feed the drops to that has a button that opens the floor. The button wouldn't do anything unless you had finished the wave.

Hey Etho! I got some ideas for your arena: *For the command room, you should add glass overlooking the arena so its kind of like a VIP spectator booth, and maybe add a fancy chair or a throne if you have room *If you add a second layer, put it below the arena, and decorate it like a cavern, then put grass and maybe some oak trees on the top layer. Alternatively, you could make the second layer an exposed mineshaft or stronghold. *I really like the wave idea, maybe as you progress through the waves you could release special mobs that you deck out in good armor and put in their own pod, also you could get upgrades over time like improving your armor, adding a bow, potions, or wolves.

Hey Etho! I was thinking about the arena and I thought it would be cool after each wave some materials would drop from the ceiling that you could use to make yourself better gear. The quality of the materials could vary as well (say lether to make armor all the way to diamond). You would randomly drop them so you may get luck or you may not. On top of this I think it would be cool to get some sort of currency after the end of each round (maybe gold?) and you would have to put it in a hopper at a clerk and it will open up to a work bench. Another thing I thought of was randomly dropping books as well and again using this "Shop" concept to have an enchanting shop so that you could spend the levels you get from killing mobs. I hope I made sense!

Etho, please PLEASE set up a randomizer with a variety of different weapons (with different enchantments) so that at the start of each wave, you hit a button and a different weapon pops up from the middle of the arena, and you have to use that weapon for the wave. A bow for some waves, a sword for others, a pickaxe, shears, etc. That would be so awesome!

Hey Etho, What about using weighted pressure plates to balance the waves. You could have different tiers that would give you 32, 24 16, or 8 enchanting levels. I think you can put a comparator on an enchanting table, but I am not sure on that. What if you had to successfully make a certain level enchantment before you could leave the arena? You could also randomize how big the wave is using a dropper/comparator combo. The same mechanism that controls the size of he wave could be used to push out the proper number of bookshelves around the enchanting table. Would give you a reason to put all the experience you would gain to good use. You could possible even name it something like 'Enchant or Die Arena'.

Dear Etho, I must admit that I was skeptical about the arena idea at first, after all, it's not like you're really good at minecraft combat mechanics or anything. However, when I saw the shear mob of mobs that came after you, I had a thought,"What if he made this arena into arenas!" Instead of a simple one size fits all, have different scenarios: caving ambushes, uphill fights, hold the line, challenge fights, and Mob sieges. Have the areas that are the hardest for you, be the arena types. The training and entertainment would be incredible. And the best part? They could all fit around your spawning system and have mob pipes to move the next batch of targets/training dummies into which ever arena you want!

Etho, you could use stone gennys to make stone to regen the stone pillers when mobs break them, and i think if you add small building(s) with a second floor maybe 2 blocks up just for a Strategic advantage. Also If you dont what to mess with exoplotions and Obsidian just weed out the creepers.

Dear Etho, you should have a hopper mine cart, (or two...or as many as needed) running underneath the mob arena so you don't lose you stuff, or well...the only way you could lose your stuff at that point is by creeper blasts or a mob picking it up and dying somewhere else. Unfortunately you would probably have to make the floor out of obsidian if you wanted it to work properly.... which you have clearly stated that you don't like to gather or just the look of it in general and it probably would be noisy.

One game mode you could put in is closing the holding cells; You get 1 point per holding cell you close, when they're closed they fill up, and after a time they open again, and let the mobs out. So it works kind of like survival. You could make the holding cells be closed longer each time you close it, so they save up more mobs and make the game harder as you get more points.

Etho! I've tried to build arena like that and I used sand to cover the floor. Also I hid a few pistons under it to make individually controlled walls and pits. Just imagine - you can have flat arena, arena with walls or even with a few lava pits with just a flip of several levers. You could even make them appear or disappear randomly during the fight.

You should have a time out safe zone where, if u hit a button, you can get onto a platform held by sticky pistons, then after like 10-15 seconds it drops u back into the fight zone. Loving the ideas so far, keep it up!

i think it would be cool it you made barriers that appeared and disappeared (double piston extenders). also if you make some sort of round system have a golden apple that drops in the center of the arena. that way you can hold onto it until you need it keep up the amazing vids bro, loving the series more than ever lately. :)

You should make the walls and the floor of the arena cobblestone generators, so that the arena repairs itself. Or you could make the obstacles in the arena cobblestone generators!

Instead of using obsidian behind the walls to protect from creeper blasts, you could consider making self-repairing walls. If you put the right arrangement of pistons, lava, and water a few blocks down under the floor of the arena, you could constantly push up fresh smooth stone to replace any that's been blown up.

An idea for your arena: Etho, you mentioned having four entrances to the mob arena, right? How about putting a water system linking the mobs to each entrance, pressure plates on all four entrances, and linking all four pressure plated entrances in such a way so that mobs only enter when they're waiting outside all four entrances. For ex. there's only (x) amount of mobs waiting behind only three of the entrances, the doors remain closed 'till a mob stumbles upon the fourth entrance. I believe this would be a great way to create "waves" of mobs that aren't only funneling through one entrance.

Hi 3tho, a way in which you could make the flow of mobs be even in all four doors is by making a small dome in top and drop the mobs on the center of said dome, and let them pathfind their way to you. I liked the idea of increasingly difficult waves, and to do this you could have a timing mechanism on the flow gate that with each wave the time spent closed increases...until the mob cap caps creepers and such. Etho, since you said you had no use for the tunnel, you could just block off the entrance and kinda make it look like it caved in. Just a cool aesthetic look for the man cave. Keep up the awesome work!

I think a cool feature to add to the arena would be an emergency item retrieval system; for when you die you can just go ahead hit a button and it'll push the items into an item elevator or hopper. And when there is water all over the floor of the arena you can have TNT fall from the roof of the arena and destroy any mobs left over once enough time passes for your items to reach the retrieval system.

Also, when the path intersects the ravine, cut the lighting inside the path, put glass on the sides so you can see in, and put a bit more lava in the ravine. I think it would look pretty cool :)

Etho I just had a really good idea for how to do waves for your mob arena. You can have the mobs filter from a water stream into a hole, and inside that hole have a weighted pressure plate so the top gets closed off when the right amount of mobs are in it. Then have that area be closed off and another section opens for the next wave to start filtering in.

Hey Etho, I have a pretty cool idea, I think, for making your arena be more redstone friendly! You should try making it like zombies mode in call of duty so you have to get credits/money to move on to more areas. The only downsides are that creepers could take away the fun (like each time they explode and break blocks). To fix this i would add a creeper separator where you can trash them or make them into a boss battle. Another downside is that the more rooms you unlock the easier it gets. I personally think you should make the mobs come out of more than one area (not just the starting area) Keep making your vids!!!!

Hey Etho, Here's an idea: You could have cobblestone generators that make walls, so that you can dynamically change the arena size. Also helps save on the creeper repair bill.

I think a good way to have a wave system, is to have pressure plates all over the place, and have 1 pressure-plate free, slightly elevated block, and only when no pressure plate is activated does the next wave begin. This way the longer you take to kill them the harder it is.

Etho! You should put hoppers to the floor (hoppers leading to a chest) and carpets on top of the hoppers, so you get the mob trops and if you die you can get your stuff back :) I love your videos, never change them

ETHO! You can use longer delays for the release gate for each wave, every new wave will be more difficult since the longer time allows more mobs to fall down, what more with a more random distribution of them so the wave will be different every round.

Ideas for the mob arena: Consider a system where you can have friendly mobs battle hostiles? Perhaps a lever you pull to release wolves into the arena, or you can float some iron golems over from your poppy farm, and drop them in with a button press.

In the launcher pods, you should replace the stone attached to the pistons with slime blocks. That way, the mobs won't take damage when falling from the tubes AND will be launched out into the arena.

With a minecart track, a little bit of redstone magic and some timer with different times you can easily manage the mobs and you can even distribute them. I think that would be the most effective and straight forward solution for this.

For the Arena.... you if you want 4 different entrances you can store up so and so many mobs in one holding cell with weighted pressure plates and then close it and let them Flow to the next one.... then close this one when its full.... Keep up the good work! :)

One game mode could be a CTM mode. Allow the mobs to fill the arena, with a wool in the middle. Also, have traps that are randomized somehow so you aren't sure which ones are set.

Hey Etho you should funnel out the creepers by using cats because it looks like they will be a pain blowing up your stuff and you could also do waves using gold pressure plates and every 15 mobs the piston drops them into the arena keep up the good work!

you should put in some pistons that move up and down on the obstacles to make it more interesting or even some traps that you have to watch out for. You can also make it lit by redstone lamps that flash on and off as you fight. That would be pretty cool.

Etho, for your mini snow farm you should change it so there in an enclosed 2x2 space and 4 iron bars 1 block off the ground centering the snow golem. Then he's right on the corner and for this design there's no fancy glitch or anything involved that might be patched.

I like the idea of getting loot drops like food and such upon wave or round completion, you also suggested arrows, I LOVE a specific glitch that I believe never got fixed, it was caused by shooting arrows from a dispenser into a step placed against the face of that dispenser, this bug made that arrow then home in on the nearest player and enter the player's inventory, all the while making a cool and somewhat funny effect as it homes in, maybe try creating a dispenser tool of this for during or at the end of a round! I love your videos and probably would have quit on a lot of things in life if not for you, keep being a great inspiration and friend! -Nick

+EthosLab, What if you lock yourself in the arena with only a few mobs to start and when you kill all of them you press a button to release a new wave. The time that takes for you to clear the arena should give you enough mobs to fight the next wave. If you run out of food, regen is over and you will eventually lose. If it takes more time to clear one wave, the next one will have more mobs and will take even longer to be dealt with until the point where you will be overwhelmed. The score of the game is how many waves you survived.

For the waves of mobs try keeping the dispenser of buffs for between round next to the place where you are going to hand in the items to end the wave. Also, I think a modified version of the holding cell you made will be perfect for storing and releasing the mobs as well as buffing or debugging them.

Filter out the creepers for special occasions. Like have them in a separate compartment for special fight modes. And so during the regular fights you won't get blown up.
