And it was really frustrating for me don't understand what my relatives said because they have a really strong british accent. Just now after 15 years i can understand 70% of what they saying with your videos. People don't understand the big distance between british english and usa english. Really, thank you. :)

I've noticed over time that natives, even British people, tend to use a glottal stop instead of a t sound if the t is at the end of a word. So, for example, they would usually use a glottal stop at the end of 'about', 'it', 'what' and 'sort' (sor' of).
@ETJEnglish7 жыл бұрын
+l l that’s right! This is pretty much what I said in the video. It’s used sometimes, but not all the time and particularly at the end of words, depending which word follows or how comfortable it feels
@helmort7 жыл бұрын
For me an example of ununderstandable british speaker is Jack Whitehall, can you explain why, with one lesson? It's really important, because me, like many others, we talking international and Usa english without any problem, but, my God, he and the guys like him transform english language into an alien form of speaking. That kind of natives produce a barrer between uk and the rest of the world. And that confusing us because we don't know if that problem starts by accent, grammar, ourselves or more. And the idea of "he is a true uk native" embarassing us because we say "Uk is the mother of other english languages in the world... and why i can't understand this guy? I'm wrong?" .

Hi there!. Thanks for your video!. I just wanted to say that thanks to a friend of mine, I have found your channel and due to this I always try to watch each of the videos you post regularly. I really like these kind of videos, as they're actually really helpful when it comes to learn the English grammar deeper and therefore how to sound like a native speaker. To be fair, I have been learning English for almost 27 years now, but I couldn't get that British accent yet. I'm planning to make a journey to the UK one day, so I can become fluent at it, especially when talking about my conversational skills. I definitely have to work out mainly in all my weak points. However, I hope all your videos will be pretty useful for me to improve my level. Keep up the good work!. Kind Regards!.

Hi there Elliot! I just discovered your channel thanks to a teacher I have. I'm currently attending a Teachers Training Course in Argentina and I found your lessons particularly helpful. I've heard many different accents and intonation patterns among people living in England, specially on the C.A.E. listening tests we do every week (not to mention the Scottish, Welsh and slang accents, which I find particularly difficult to understand) and I was wondering where does yours come from. It's completely delightful to listen to. Thank you for reading and greetings from Argentina.
