ETL Testing Tutorial 3 : Scheduling and Job run

This tutorial explains how the ETL jobs are scheduled and run.The tool used to explain the scheduling process is Autosys and Informatica powercenter is used to demonstrate the job run.
It also explains PMCMD command and its associated syntax in detail and how even if Autosys, Application server and Informatica server are configured on different machines , Still how we can run the informatica workflow directly from autosys box.

Can we trigger the same job using command task ?? Like if am running a ABC workflow so can i trigger ABC workflow again using command task ??

If you have enabled concurrent execution than you can run multiple instance in parallel , else it will fail with an error the current execution is yet to complete :)

@Tech Coach: So in the company when we work as a tester. We will have application server only locally and Autosys and informatics server remotely. What is the main purpose of informatica server? Do you mean in your video we login to Autosys connect to application server through its machine name and also connect to informatica server through its machine name and run workflow? Could you please give us example how you run job in Autosys with command details? A lot of things you mentioned here are more theoretical and if you could mentioned in detail how to run in Autosys, that would be great. Also as a tester do you run Autosys? I mean does it comes under the role of QA tester to run Autosys?

how can we perform performance testing in etl..does it require any tool??can you please explain with real time examples..thanks

I haven't seen people using any tools to measure performance, You can use tracing tools to debug performance issues though. You need to make general estimates like if you are loading 10000 records and its taking 10 mins the performance is not good and need to be tackled. I hope that helps.
