Restoring a 100 year old motorcycle tank

This old Triumph model S tank needed some serious restoration due to several leaks and the wrong color applied in the mid nineties. I saved the graphics, stripped the tank, did some brazing to fill the leaks and repainted the tank in original color and paint scheme.

My grandad rode a motorcycle in the 1920s, he had a 500cc single cylinder BSA. Those holes where probably use to mount the gas tank, standards.. well there weren't any. He did tell me of when he was riding along and hit a bump, because gas tanks didn't have a valve to relieve pressure, just a hole and were just open, petrol splashed down his legs and onto the hot cylinder, setting him alight. Thankfully two old women spotted it and put out the fire for him.
