Attempt? This was great! I played this on trumpet as a kid decades ago and after seeing this almost feel like picking it up again ... :-)
@swmita13 жыл бұрын
It's not always how fast; how high; but how the notes flow and how they are toned. You made the difficult look easy. I liked the way the video ended too. It seemed like you thought of adding something, but then paused; the whole thing had feel. I'm subbing your channel man; a watch and learn type of thing :)

Hi David, you really impressed me with your very well-played and innovative version of Summertime that you played here -- great job!! Thanks so much for sharing. It surprised me that you had been away from your trumpet for a few months; because your "rest" from playing doesn't seem to be evident at all in your version here of "Summertime" (at least not to me). I'm an aspiring trumpet player, and I seem to almost constantly have a problem with "blowing out my lips" - and this happens to me after only a short time of playing. When this happens to me, my continuing to practice playing the trumpet only seems to make things worse. The only thing that seems to help me get sold-sounding notes again is for me to take up to three weeks of rest from playing the trumpet. (It's very frustrating.) By the way, any helpful suggestions for me (from anyone here) with regards to my improving my trumpet playing would be greatly appreciated. When my wife heard you playing "Summertime" in this video, she remarked: "That sounds nice - do you think that you could ever learn to play like that on your trumpet?" (She really happens to like the old classic song: "Summertime.") *Note: I've played this song for her in the past - on my chromatic harmonica... :)
@lartes98546 жыл бұрын
I just want to correct a typographical error that I made in the third sentence of my second paragraph (above). I had typed: "The only thing that seems to help me get sold-sounding notes again is for me to take up to three weeks of rest from playing the trumpet." (I had misspelled the word "solid" in the above sentence - [I had typed it as "sold"].) David, I keep coming back and listening to your rendition of "Summertime" here. I think that it's really cool and well-done. Thanks again for sharing it with us.

@BOOM88838 жыл бұрын
+MrLilshawn95 Im a drummer, but from my experience anything you play, as long as its with the right technique is usefull. It can only help if you play as much music that interests you.
@Cephlin8 жыл бұрын
+MrLilshawn95 practise every day for 15 minutes and always try and improve your weakest thing. Get the Real Book if you want to play jazz standards. Or just KZbin search for "trumpet solo" and they usually have the music and a backing track. Don't forget to practise and use your scales, modes, arppegios and try soloing using them over backing tracks.
